I got the idea randomly the other day, and it reminded me of those Spy Versus Spy cartoons. A perfect scenario for our boys, who are constantly at each other's throats.

Jaysus Amanda, I don't even know where to begin - this is absolutely astonishing. I love the simplicity in the colouring (ie. the lack of shadows) it really works for some reason, or at least, I adore it. But what really really REALLY grabs my attention is their eyes! GAWD man! Those guys! How could you *not* adore them completely and utterly!?!?

Oh that is such a great illustration of Jake and me forgets the other character of 's I know one is Darkwing's father and the other is Negaduck's father. Nice job!

Okay, seriously, why do I feel the urge to use baby-sitter tactics? "Okay boys, why don't you sit down, and tell each other why you're upset? No Jacob, don't accuse Jake, and don't blow him up, just tell him how you feel. Jake! Put that gun down! That is not how we're settling this!"

I love this picture. It makes me giggle, and it just looks so crisp. Reminds me why these two are my favorite part of the Darkwing Duck fan community. I'm a little one sided in Jacobs favor at the moments, so I am glad he is the one with the noose, giving Jake the slightly more cartoony pile of dynamite. It sort of balances them out for me. (That phrasing felt awkward...)

Yeah, Rach designed and created Jake first, and I thought it'd be fun to take a stab at Darkwing's father since I had already created a sort-of backstory of my own for the hero. I thought of just mimicking her design, but where's the fun in that? So I went a different route and tweaked Darkwing's design a bit so that Jacob could be differentiated but could also be immediately identified as Darkwing's father.

Thank you for the compliments on my linework! It's really the most time-consuming part for me because I'm such a perfectionist.

I love that there are such differences in their design - I mean the obvious thing would be the difference of eyebrows and that's about it, but if Jacob looked just like Jake without the heavy brows he wouldn't be quite Jacob. The guy's too into himself to not preen a bit, which is not a feature Jake shares - so it makes sense that they'd look different in those regards but still, fundamentally, be the same guy. Haha I love that ^_^

Btw I took Dorothy to see the Lion King in 3D on the weekend and the whole time I was thinking "Wow, wish I was at Animal Kingdom" which is so sad Oh, except during "I Just Can't Wait to be King" when I was like "Wish I was in Philharmagic"

Oh yeah that's right, I forgot you saw Weird Al live! LUCKY. That has to have been amazing. I barely know any of his newer stuff (the last album I've actually heard was uh... Poodle Hat? From 2004 or 2005?) but my love is undying. Plus he's buds with Ben Folds, FTW.

I have often thought of using Spy Vs. Spy as an influence for Jacob and Jake. I'm glad you did it, because someone just HAD to, and it oughta be someone who is used to and good at drawing the characters It's just perfect!

This is great! Their expressions--so much concentration and devious hate, and yet they have no clue I cannot wait to see the finished product! And I agree--make the dynamite pile ridiculously big to add tot he comedic effect
