Yes, it's always been this way. There world is more heavily populated now so of course things may happen in greater numbers. Really though, fear is just mass-marketed by the media.

Wow, this is a great photo! Nice how you did the hdr manip. May I ask you what program you use for doing such stuff? I'm intrested to make the same effects.

I used Photomatix Pro 3. You can either use a raw image file (if your camera shoots in raw format) or you can take multiple exposures of the same image. I do a little of both. Here's a great tutorial if you need any extra help.
