Description

The Dreadstone Golem was created by an ancient and now-forgotten sect of warlocks whose mastery over the dark arts allowed them to bind shadow essence into the stone. It was intended to be a guardian of their most sacred and forbidden knowledge, standing sentinel in the deepest chamber of their hidden temple.
Features and Abilities:
Runic Armor: The runes etched into its stone give the golem resistance to nonmagical attacks. It is also immune to spells and effects that alter its form.
Shadow Grasp: The Dreadstone Golem can reach into the very shadows of its foes, making its slam attacks not only physically devastating but capable of leeching life force, granting it temporary hit points.
Terrifying Presence: The sheer size and dark aura of the golem can instill terror in those who dare approach it. It can emit a fear aura as a bonus action, causing creatures within range to become frightened unless they succeed on a Wisdom saving throw.
Curse of the Dreadstone Golem:
Eternal Vigil: The golem is bound to its duty and cannot be commanded to leave the vicinity of the temple it guards. It suffers disadvantage on all actions when more than a mile away from its charge.
Darkness Dependency: The golem's strength wanes in the presence of strong light. In daylight or within the radius of a daylight spell, its speed is halved, and it has disadvantage on attack rolls and saving throws.
Habitat: The Dreadstone Golem's natural habitat is the shadowy recesses of its creators' temple, but it can also be found in any place steeped in dark magic, such as ancient ruins or the lairs of necromancers who have found and reanimated a dormant golem for their own purposes.
Role in Adventure: Adventurers might encounter the Dreadstone Golem as a formidable guardian blocking their path to treasure or ancient knowledge.
