Ah, the billion-dollar paperweight. What a POS plane. Great art though, well done!

The F-35 is okay for me, but I'd prefer the A-10 Warthog over it in CAS.
The war between those for the Lightning and those for the 'Hog continues.
Great though, wanted to see clean F-35s, unlike the "bombed-up"versions.

just a quick question, What is it with people calling the F-35 "Fat Man". I mean I don't get the reference.

I don't think I'm the sort of person you should go to for this, huehue.
If I had to guess, look at the plane.
Comparing it to something else like... Those other Jets, it seems rather heavyset, does it not? Look at the rest of Distantstarr's art, most of the planes aren't as, well... Fat as the F-35.

you got a point there. It is a kinda stocky looking jet, even in person it looks rather bulking. I just thought that you were referencing something like a article or someone else art that's all. thanks for the explanation though. Β

Hmhm, I don't know enough about Jets to reference anything else but Distantstarr's art.

They train the pilots for these, along with the first classes of Israeli and English F-35 pilots, just down the road from my home town at Eglin Air Force Base. Personally not too fond of it, but for the Marines, it provides a vast improvement over the old AV-8B.

Nice, particularly the very organic changes of colour.
I have a particular love of watching the main engine exhaust nozzle transitioning between forward flight and VL mode and back.

The plane is a great concept, but it's execution is horrible. There was way too much money put into this program, so much so that the cost would probably outweigh the benefits. I mean, I love everything about this plane, except for the way it is implemented into the military.
Still, this is just an awesome pic. I'd love to see more F-35s, but I'm always in awe with the pictures you make, no matter what it is. Keep up the great work!

Total hate for the F-35 for one simple reason:
They stopped producing the F-22 for THIS turkey?! Are you kidding me?!
As a fighter, it's far inferior to the F-22. Slower, less maneuverable, the works.
As ground support, it's far inferior to the A-10 (armor over thin-skinned stealth against ground fire please).
Finally, after all is said and done, its per-unit flyaway is quickly approaching that of the Raptor anyway, which was cited as being too expensive.
That the F-22 doesn't really have all that much of a mission because nobody fields an air force while F-15s, 16s, and 18s can take care of all air-to-ground is a *good* thing.
There was no need to create this attempt to please everyone and get an overcosted thin-skinned stealth missile truck.

Tell you what; land an F-22 with a 100 foot roll-out from "weight on wheels" to stationary, then we'll talk.
Off-topic, but I like your signature.

The F-35 project is more of a pioneer than of practicality in my opinion. I feel it's the jumpstart to next-gen military aviation, but too soon.
Nevertheless, it's a pretty cool plane. Especially for VTOL -- WE NEED MORE VTOL, IT'S SO AWESOME!
Maybe you can draw an F-35B VTOL'ing? just an idea xD
Awesome job btw, very cool
