Poppies  worn for the respect of our ancestors that fought the WAR to END ALL WARS  If only that were the truth!  Veterans and  active duty personnel cherish this day to pay homage and great respect for those who gave their lives so we may be here doing what we are doing right now, in total freedom.  Poppies are beautiful, as beautiful as any flower I have seen, and this one is like an eternal flame, just like at Gettysburg  What a beautiful shot

It took me years to figure out what happened to them running through the field of poppies in OZ  It even more amazes me that snow cured them LOL  I don't think so ! Glinda, a Ziegfield girl, I do believe, now her presence would have sobered any man's heart LOL

lol they wouldn't even know what rampant meant I love B and B also I know the tradition 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month a beautiful and sad one red poppies red for the blood spilt and if memory serves they also bloomed on a lot of the battlefields

I'm a history watcher I always liked the word armistice sounds pretty but I never liked the meaning... temporary form of peace it always made me uneasy "Okay we'll stop for now but let's all meet up here in a decade or so and do pretty much the same thing all over again."

thats a fairly accurate summation... and yeah... you would think after the great war and all the millions of casualties... we would have learned.....

Gorgeous color! I like how one is open and the other not, nice contrast.

Thank you very much  hehe one was camera shy. I prefer the other colors they are lesser seen and there for more striking to me. These ones are everywhere but they are a vivid orange and very pretty to look at.
