Welcome to the Divine Isles Design guides! In these guides I will explain how the various horse genes and markings work to help you with your designing questions.
Some things to keep in mind are:
- These are not real life genetics! While they are based on the real deal, they are simplified to be easier to understand and apply
- You will often see the genos containing a dash ( - ). The dash is a placeholder for a different gene within that locus. They are there to let you know that it doesn't matter if the horse is heterozygous or homozygous for that gene. Example: A black tobiano's genes may be written as Ee/aa/nTb. This horse is heterozygous for black (Ee) and tobiano (nTb). But for the expression it doesn't matter if the horse is heterozygous or homozygous, so in these guides it would be written as E-/aa/Tb- ! (note: in this horse it DOES matter whether they carry agouti or not, since with it the horse would be a bay!)
