I figure the best way to do this is to group it by types of comments, so here you go.
The good: The subject is pretty good. It has been done... a lot, but it is one of those that never really gets old. While I personally love flower,s you have to understand that it is a very difficult subject to take, as in order to create something really unique, you find yourself challenged. Don't stop taking flower pictures, just keep in mind, most of your shots of flowers will get overlooked by most people, because they have seen this sort of thing before... perhaps on their own camera. To help you find ways to make the subject a little more unique, here are some links of flower pictures that do a good job at that. [link] as you know, flowers are about shape and color, this is a great example because the focus is good, the center of attention is off, and the colors are wow. Furthermore, the contrast is high, which draws the eye to noticing the shapes created by the petals. Once again, this is all about shapes and focus. The interest is again off center, and the focus is all on the pollen, thus giving it a unique texture. [link] Sometimes, it is all about finding a different angle, this is good because it shows a flower from the side, when most pictures are looking in at the petals. It was also a studio shot, as the background si plain... this isn't always an option, but keep in mind you want the background in flower shots to be simple,a nd to be tones that are very different from those of the flower. More examples, which I won't bother to explain, are as follows. Just look at them and make your own judgments: [link] [link] <-unique flowers are good. [link] [link] [link] [link] Another strength this has is the color palette. The white magenta and a hint of yellow is a very strong combination, so you made a great choice with this flower, I would take more pictures of flowers like this if I was you.
The Weak: The lighting is sort of week, it could use being taken a little lighter. The thing about cameras and their light readers, is that they go off of an average, this is called the middle gray tone. They tell you that the picture has proper lighting when the setting you have has all the tones average out to that middle gray. This works great with most thing, but images with a lot of black or a lot of white need a little personal touch. You need to set the camera for slightly over exposing for subjects with lots of white (this works with snow shots to) and you need to slightly under expose for blacks to turn out black on a very dark picture. The composition. There are two things that I would do differently for the composition of this piece. One, I would have the part that is in focus a little more off center. When the image focus is centered, it gives the image a sort of snapshot quality, because that is how everyone does it. To add interest to a pieces, and thus capture the viewer's eye, you need to off set it a little. The second thing I would change is that I wouldn't have the edge of the flower behind the focal point... I mean on the right, as it is, it sort of draws the eye away and leads it off the page. If you had the edge of the flower on the other side, the lines created by the pollen stems (or whatever they are called) would help to draw the eye back in to the focus, which would be an over all stronger look. Conveniently, one could accomplish both of these changes at the same time by simply setting the focus, and then moving the camera a little to the left before clicking.
The Great: The focus is strong. It draws the eye in, and it gives you a clear view of the flower you would want to look at. The drops and the title are also very good. Drops and flowers are always a great combination, and I encourage you to do more work with this combo. Sometimes it is fun to take a dropper out to the flowers and add the drops yourself if there isn't any rain.
Overall, if I am to rate this pictures, I would give it a 3.5 out of 5. Is is above average... but there is a lot more that can be done to give it that extra something. As I said, flowers are a hard subject. The only harder one is sunsets. Sunsets are lovely automatically, so the temptation is to let the sunset do all the work, but then the picture will look like every other photographer's sunset pic, and it will get overlooked. Flowers are just like that, since they are always pretty, you need to do a lot more to make the image meaningful. I hope this helps, and happy picture taking.

Ack, I just started putting together the page, and realized, I was off by one count. I'm sorry, I can't include it, because polls don't let me give 11 choices. I'm really sorry, but since you did ask, and it is a nice picture, I faved it. If you want, I am a photographer as well, and I can offer an indepth critique to make up for this mistake. I don't know how I miscounted.
