Simple but beautiful. Big Macintosh and Applejack are in love with their little sister as son as she was foaled, and the colors looks great. The only itty bitty thing is that the horizon line between the older siblings is noticeably higher than on the outside edges. Perhaps a bit of grass texture would help get rid of the "seam" too.

Straight lines are boring!
Really I just wanted to see if these lines were thick and clean enough for me to just paintbucket my way through it and then someone asked for me to have the ground give way to sky.
This was just me fooling around as opposed to actually trying anything.
Also, oh man, textures!? That'll be the day.

Don't dismiss the idea so easily. It's clear as day that your appreciation of the artwork goes beyond simply "liking" it. Now you appreciate it enough to try to make it better. You will find yourself wanting to do even more.
Straight lines can be boring, yes, but you'd be amazed what some artists can do with them. In this case you have three straight lines, but a little hand (mouse?) drawing to make the horizon a little less even (and guide it) would do the trick. It does depend on which program and what methods you're using though.
