I love bumble bees! i love their fuzziness and the fact that according to the laws of aerodynamics, they can't fly. but nobody told them so they do it anyway

Ya, bumble bees are the 'nice' bees, the ones that don't attack unless attacked or in fear of harm. That's why, like you, I don't freak out around these. Wasps are the ones I avoid due to their hostile nature.

this bee is awesome - i dont see them where i live - cool pic ^_^ whats the orange thing in the background? i think it adds interest to the pic (more so than the other bee pics)..(IMO) - cool, cool!

I have actually never been stung by a bumble bee, and used to have them on my hands quite often as a kid. Bumble bees are nice
I hate wasps though

Yes, that's true, it takes hostile or viewed hostile action toward a bumble bee to make them attack, hornets and wasps are what I have been stung by. Easily provoked.

Oh yes. Although I've never been stung by a hornet, they just look so scary (fantastic colours and markings though...)

Oh ya, there was a hornets nest in the back yard, my sis dug into it (it was underground) and the all of the hornets came out. One experience on hornets I'll never forget, even if I was not stung then. So yes, that was a provoked attack, but I have been stung on a different occasion.... meh, I'd agree with wasps though.

Once a wasp got into my boot somehow when I was little and stung me on the sole of my foot
They get into impossible places to sting you they do....

Maybe its the time of year when the flowers on my deck bloom...august(the flowers are jewelweed,the bees have to go inside the flower to get the goods,so little bee butts stick out,and are a prime target for petters like me.) the bees are so busy doing their thing they dont mind or notice. I will try to capture this for you...if I remember
