Description Sorry for the inactivity! I've been working on a few things outside of DA but here's the long overdue language system featured in PMD: SS!

The language featured in the comic is a mix between the languages seen in PMD2 and the Anime.

The language featured above is the 'modern and national' version of the language but each region has different dialects and terms for different things. Footprint Runes are canon just as they are in the games, but they are more akin to a dying language. Only Pokemon with high education can read and write in Footprint Runes, and if a Pokemon can speak Runes they are considered to be of a 'higher breed' of Pokemon.

The language is somewhat unique, being created after the fall of the humans to signify a new, 'golden' age of the Pokemon kind where they are just as intelligent as what the humans were. However, the first pioneers of the language modeled it after the human language as one last spiteful kick to the fallen race. Most human slang was demolished, as well as human slurs/curses. Those that did survive have been altered to make more sense to the Pokemon speaking them. Only humans or Pokemon who were raised by humans can say old human terms.

The language does not allow duplicate letters next to one another and numbers, but aside from that it works a lot like our human language. Most Pokemon do not have native languages in different regions, as all of Pokemon kind adopted this one language as their common tongue to show their bond and strength as a unified race after the war.
