I've honestly really fallen in love with this character. I just found him but looking at the other images you've done of him. This might sound ridiculous, but I feel like he'd be the kind of character that is rather calm and casual, but get on his bad side and he's got a foul temper. Definitely enjoy your gallery after taking a few minutes to look through it. Will be following (:

You're like the first person to post a "year of the dragon" pic that actually acknowledged that it doesn't officially count until teh lunar new year. LOL I was about ready to start slapping people.
...and for some reason I want to call hi, Faidran. (f-EYE-druhn) Dunnoo why. o.o; I don't even think it's a real name.

Actually, Year of the Dragon doesn't start until the 26th of this month, so we're still in Year of the Rabbit ^_^ but OK.

I think that you're right. My Dad follows the Lunar Calendar a bit more, so he might have guessed the date wrong.

He looks like a mutant winged, horned cougar (not even lion).. He doesn't remotely resemble anything of dragon kind.
Considering dragons are defined as great, fire-spouting creatures with reptilian bodies.. I think you missed it by a landslide. Even Falcor, as a luck dragon, was modeled from the eastern dragon style, which is completely irrelevant from the western dragon style, barely depicting similar reptilian aspects.
I think "Mufasa" would be a more apt name for him, considering he resembles a lion far more than an eastern dragon.

I'm sorry but isn't the Dragon a fantasy animal that comes in all sorts and types? In old folklore sure they had specific types and those specific types had their own looks. But this here is a Dragon, a big winged fantasy creature, covered in fur, and has feathered wings in apposed to a pair of bat wings. He is not a traditional reptilian dragon, he is more a mammalian type.
I didn't intend on making him an eastern or western type at all. He is MY creation, a product of fantasy. Last time I checked, fantasy and imagination can be anything.

When you change the traditional standards of something, fantasy or not, it no longer remains that thing. When everything that makes up the fantasy creature is changed.. well.. then what is it?
Just as real animals have a certain look to their genus.. So does the definition of even fantasy creatures. Canine, felines, equines all have a certain anatomy and similar structure. If you change things, they're no longer the original animal that was represented.
Of course, as a fantastical creature there's a certain level of creative freedom allotted.
But regardless of what I say you're going to do whatever you want. Especially seeing as my random opinion off the internet holds no weight. One day I'll learn not to get drunk and roam the internet.

Falcor is still heavily Eastern style based.. However lacking in a few essential areas, such as the branching horns of a deer. He still has the nose of a lion and the scales of a lizard, albeit mixed in with some fur but he's still heavily scaled.

UmbraLynx In reply to Krizpie [2012-01-02 16:22:53 +0000 UTC]
What a bullshit!!! What do you think why it's called "Fantasy"??? Because it's not real, and so there are NO defined features for ANY fantasy creature. Of course you cannot draw a lion with horns and hooves and say it's still a lion. But fantasy creatures are figments, and your mind can produce the most beautiful things, in all variants.
One day when there's a proof thet dragons really live(d), THEN you can put in your two cents!

So you support Twilight's version of sparkling vampires then.. I see how it goes. Perverse the definition of a creature for the pure fact that's it's fiction and not scientifically proven. The term was originally used for dinosaurs when they were first discovered. So according to your scientific requirements, anything not depicted as a dinosaur no longer deserves the term dragon.
So
As you say it
This is still not a dragon, nor is it a dinosaur, so obviously my original argument stands. And Falcor, from the Never Ending Story.. Still resembles an Eastern dragon more than anything else..
