"The old king had run far beyond the reaches of his kingdom. for what seemed like eternity this powerful, majestic predator had found himself to become the hunted. for months he had evaded his persuer. flashes of his pride's massacre rushing through his mind.... torturing him every inch of the way.
The moist heavy air put pressure on his already strained lungs, as he stumbled forward. he can hear the celebrating howls of the enemy.

memories...

memories of his children playing carefree.... both taunts and comforts him.....

"HOOOWWWWLLLLLLLL!!!!"

He can hear the rushed running of the ravenous beast.... making its way to the old ruler.

He had fought many wars, won many battles. fathered many children, loved his queen more than a million suiters ever could have.....

and this is it.

he stumbled some more. over run by exhaustion.

he hasnt eaten in days. nor drank. barley could sleep.

he has come to the end of his long life's road.

"Snarl......"

he looked up into the distance as he sees his foe rise up just behind a tree on the neighbooring hill.

the creature glares at him, frozen, ready to make its move.

the king looks down at the flowers in the grass. like the ones his kin used to play in, and and even him, as a child used to lay about in. hearing stories from his father of a monster more fierce that the mightiest of lions. more fowl than the dirtiest of hyena. more loud than the angriest of elephant. more terrifying than any dreams you could conjure up.....

"grrrrroooowwwwllllll......"

the monster inches forward....ready to take its prize.

The old King knows....he cannot win this battle.

a light shines down through the fog.

he is cold

he can hear the singing of his little children....the warm inviting voice of his beloved queen.
