How I long for a place that's as deserted as this one is. Only one pair of legs to be seen. Heaven it must be. Maybe it's the summer heat that drove everybody else away. I could understand that. It's 11pm here, and it's still 27 degrees Celsius outside. Inside is no better. Add the currently high humidity and I start to believe that rice could be a very promising crop indeed, Especially since I harvested the garlic that we planted in November last year. Our small plot is ready now for something that meets the requirements of an ever increasing global warming. Alternatively, I could tile it like this plaza here. Easy maintenance, no watering.

Do you really still have spaces in Lyon that are as deserted on a sunny day like this one here? Most impressive to me.

See, two weeks have passed, and now you are very happy not to have switched to rice! Global is over - at least that was true for a few weeks
Lyon is a large city, thus you can find a deserted place easily, but I took my morning off that day, and in the middle of the morning, after the morning rush, this place was quite empty indeed!

You're right, of course. I'm already thinking about breeding some arctic circle type of fish instead of growing rice. It is a demanding and rapidly changing world indeed.

Good to know that big cities as Lyon is do have spots that are not overrun day and night. Oh, and it's only recently that I read in my favourite newspaper that, while Paris is seen as the the brain of France, Lyon is the belly. They said there's no other place in France where the variety and quality of food is as good. That got me thinking. Who needs a brain if the the belly is full and happy? That small other thing called sex can't account for much in this equation, especially since it doesn't rely much on brainpower anyway.

Definitely does not rely on the brainpower - or place in the brain that can't be controlled anyway. Not to mention that if you eat a lot and develop your belly enough, sex - I mean your own - becomes a distant memory and you can be happy if you still can see your feet from above

Oooh, get me past this last stretch of sidewalk, across the courtyard, and into the cool confines of the cafe. I prefer to experience my hot summer days from a distance.

Yes, summer turns every plaza into a piece of the Sahara desert!
Our summer turned to a wet and cool one after a dry and hot spring. The temperatures in May were higher than those in July!

All over the continent, as Spain and Italy were unseasonably cool for us into mid-June, but I am not one to complain about cool, only hot.

It all seems so long ago now.

Better not get used to heat and drought, when living in an area like yours, right?
