Here's a quick progress post for a speed paint character I've been working on, one in a series of illustrations called "Villains". Essentially it's illustrations of all the more memorable villains from my Dungeons and Dragons: Eberron campaigns. I'm using them to brush up on my color & speed skills, and the players love seeing the characters fully illustrated.

Deiter VonRuthvek is the owner and proprietor of "VonRuthvek's Splendors of the South" a rather eerie curio shop in the coastal city of Stormreach, on the wild & dangerous continent of Xen'drik.
An ex-patriot (read: deserter/traitor) Emerald Claw assassin, he is brilliant but definitely unhinged. The players don't know WHY he doesn't still work for the Claw, but they do seem to be aware that while he no longer kills in the name of the Claw, he certainly kept up his old habits: He is one of Stormreach's top assassins by night. (Something that is blatantly hinted at fairly regularly.) He was recently "re-acquired" by the Emerald Claw in an event that left most of Stormreach burning.

The players really seem to love his manic, at times near violent, mannerisms. "Eccentric" barely covers this man's personality. Also, they don't seem to mind his blatant disregard for human life in the slightest. I mean, we're talking near-chaotic evil here. (it says lawful evil on his sheet, simply due to following contracts to the letter.)
Pretty sure they'd fight to the death for this guy. Which is funny since he's probably the most actually evil character in the game. He just doesn't really try to hide it, and is incredibly charismatic. Plus they're all kind of scared of him. XD

He also speaks like Johann Krauss, so that's awesome too.
