Bellis ophiocordyceps, more commonly known as Plant species Z, is the final member of the cryptid floral species of the Arkan Island. Plant species Z isn't as large nor does it sport any physical attributes as its other relatives as this plant resembles as a harmless flower, though it's true power lies dormant until it meets the right requirements. This Plant species turns those who eat from it into mindless flesh eating zombies.
Because of its similar physiology, colour & scent to the many flowers that grow on the island's lush environment, Plant species Z uses this as an imitation act that draws herbivores to it. Toa (English: Dodo) are particularly fond of this blossoming plant out of sheer naivety & poor intellectual judgement making this herbivore the most common victim of the dreaded flower.
Because Toa are a common victim to Plant species Z the infection spreads incredibly fast due to the overwhelming population of Toa on the island & the questionably dense mind of the species unfazed by the severity of the situation letting infected members into their colonies destroying them within meirs (English: Days). This resulted the plant to mutate & introduce three new stages, specialising for Infected Toa: Snappers, Squawkers & Brooders.

Stage 1 is known as the Snapper stage. Snapper Toa are the weakest variant of the infection where the host had just entered its transformation. Once eaten by the host the pollen of the plant will attack the hosts brain & will immediately start to show bizarre behaviour within several short muet (English - Minute/s) such as painful muscle convulsions & shivers as well as physical symptoms like clouded eyes & paling of skin. It will only be a matter of time until the infected shows signs of bewildered rage & hyper aggression towards anything it sees including members of the hosts own species.

Then there's stage 2, the Squawker stage. Squawkers are Toa who have been infected taking place within approximately 28 Suns after being plagued with Plant Species Z. Squawkers seem to show less ferocity but more resilience in comparison to stage 1 of the infection. They have shown complete deterioration of flesh & tissue, cataract clouding of the eyes, bone fracturing present on beak & sluggish movement not to also mention the croaking gurgling calls that it produces hence naming them 'Squawkers'. But despite their fragile anatomy, this stage of the Infected Toa grants the grotesque looking bird a supernatural level of endurance capable of resisting heavy blows from apex predators & even gunfire from survivors. Squawkers are known to communicate to each other through a hivemind like network thanks to a special communication relay of squawks & an explosive chemical response of the pollen that inhibits their tiny brains. This 'Hivemind' allows the Infected Toa to home in on others in the vicinity when prey is near allowing them to horde in on their quarry as a surprise ambush cutting off any means of escape.

Finally theres the final stage of infection, the Brooder Stage. The Infection of Plant species Z has been discovered to not only is spread through the contact of a bite but also the corpse of the Infected host. Germination is the last stage of the life cycle of an Infected Toa. The lifeless corpse of an Infected Toa are a breeding ground for germinating Plant Species Z seeds in order for it to spread throughout its environment. When near death, the Infected Toa will scurry into dense vegetation but will sometimes infiltrate survivor camps getting into crop plots dying there. Though the life of the host will cease the Plant species Z will carry on the next sprouting flowers.

It has been told by Arkan Elders through ancient Neoterran Ark lore that this beautiful flower is an omen of death & destruction, wiping out anything & everything in its path. Nerckrosybila as they call it, translating it as the Death Daisy. It had also been said that the flower grows every 23rd T'hoshi (English: Years) blooming on the 10th Muh'l (English: Month) where it awaits its next 'renewal'...
