Thank you for this ^.^ it gave me an idea to use a run down keep rather then a deserted villageΒ

Wonderful illustration

Going back to this artworks for the 4653rd-ish time, I'm only wondering something now...
Did you use some perspective grid to help you out?
How do you make sure to have the right angle for the buildings to keep the perspective nice?
Great job, again ... as if my opinion could have changed since my first comment

I used google sketchup for the basic shapes (just some cubes), set the right angle and used that as a reference, just to get perspective right...

Damned, again Sketch up! No need to say it again. I'm downloading it right away

I didn't wanted to publish it or use it on any public way, just for my three friends

Yeah I understand, what I was trying to say was that I cannot say anything about usage of the image, as it is copyrighted by my client.

thanks! I'm afraid no colored version is available as the client wanted a B&W version only. cheers

I like isometric views but here, it's more than that. It's art.
Good job ... as usual :/
Makes mine crap compare to this

thanks man and I must say especially your mountain line drawings are amazing (and if you'd do a complete map like that, it would be an absolute stunner, may take some time though

I kind of like the grid actually. The three dimensions is so awesome on this. It's a hyper map. Without the grid, you kinda lose the feeling it's intended to BE a map. I love this! I wish I could do stuff like this because I need it for my story building! Some people are just better at visualizing things.

thanks guys, and I agree the grid should have been a little less heavy. cheers

Love the concept of this map. The castle is beautifully done too, the only thing I can see that detracts is where the castle goes over the grid, perhaps put a fainter grid there?

This is absolutely stunning! The usage of a grid really emphasizes the 3D of the map. Very well done.

Lovely map DJ. I'd love to try something like this but fear I would fail spectacularly. Great stuff.

thanks guys, and indeed a good grid is mandatory (at least for me) for these kind of drawings.

Well done, man. Keeping perspective can be confusing sometimes and the trees fit as well.
