I like the way you combine atrchitecture with stong emotions the photo brings to mind. At first sight it is a very simple composition, but it is your good eye for photos which makes it perfect!

Excellent use of lines, Im not too keen on the fact the woman is looking at you either makes the scene look a little unnatural.

I absolutely love the composition of this picture and the fact you have chosen to do this in BW.. I agree with Akar in terms of the lady looking at you. Personally, I tend to look or stare into a different direction when I have an "important talk"huehehe usually sunken into a different world and trying to think about the content of this so called "important talk"...

gremlindesign [2005-05-16 05:23:00 +0000 UTC]

nice range of tones. Did you take it as a B&W, or desaturate afterwards? If you did desaturate, what method did you use? Red Channel? Hue/Saturation?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to gremlindesign [2005-05-16 23:21:59 +0000 UTC]

Thanks man! As I don't have BW feature on my DSLR so I took this shot in colour then desaturate in PS using Gradient Tool then adjust the Level

akar [2005-05-16 04:53:49 +0000 UTC]

i like the tone. and i don't think the woman specifically stares at the photographer. she might just happen to see another direction during their "important talk".

nick-m [2005-05-16 03:23:15 +0000 UTC]

" all criticisms are welcome " - in accordance with that statement I give you my true opinion. While if you were to submit this as an architectural shot dealing with line, form, depth, level, and tonality it might have been pretty excellent. However as a conceptual image that involves conversation between two individuals it somewhat fails; it's clear that while the man is looking at the woman, the woman is looking dead at the photographer, and with quite a scowl too! If you tried to make it a trick photograph where the title actually refers to the photographer and the photosubject interacting, you did great Perhaps I've misinterpreted it, then. Though if the image deals with the two people and not you ... their poses are off as his back is turned to you and she's not looking at him at all, no physical form suggests any emotion or intereaction between them, he might as well be reading a book and she could just be staring into nowhere.

Consider this my attempt at a conceptual comment - a 'what if' type of game rather then my saying I dislike it.

Cheers!

- Nick.

I like how you interpret this pic nick... it's my fault I didn't pay much attention to the detail. In original pic [link] The woman actually was staring blank to the left, so I thought the guy was trying to talk to her about something and she was trying to ignore him... then I edited it and resize with this in mind... damn! I should be more careful next time! Thanks for reminding me Nick! Glad you mentioned it... otherwise, the title and the context would be completely out of place...

great shot
how do you like the D70?
i was indecisive between it and the olympus e-300
i got the olympus

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

djoel In reply to orangegirl [2005-05-16 03:13:52 +0000 UTC]

Thank you!
Well so far, the only complaint with my D70 is the unavailibility of vertical grip... but since i'm a nikon user (F65 and F80) before I switch to digital, so by using D70 I can still use nikon lenses and accesories I have. besides nikon has wider range of lens than olympus
