This years gingerbread. Round, as is my tradition. The rest is not quite as traditional.This year I decided to take my inspiration from the increadible adventure game Riven - the sequel to Myst. In this game there is a people called the D'ni that speaks their own mystical language. And this is the number five in their counting system which has a base of 25 (instead of ten as we have). The square in the center that is, not the circle. This is more correctly a copy of the games icon, this symbol in brown wood. Therefore I have chosen not to use any icing this year.
So that's it, kind of dull and nerdy for anyone who's not a Myst fan. Please bear with me.
It's still a cool huge (about 30cm, 12 inches in diameter) cookie. And it's all mine! My preciousss...

I'm glad to hear that you like it.
Step 1: Draw the shape on paper
Step 2: Cut out the shape.
Step 3: Make gingerbread dough. There are a lot of recipes around but I'm using the one mum uses (I actually used the actual dough she made 
Step 4: Roll out the dough into a flat piece slightly bigger than your paper shape.
Step 5: Put the paper on the dough and cut out the shape in the dough. Remember that the dough will swell slightly in the oven.
Step 6: Bake it in an oven.
Step 7: Take it out and admire it. Careful though. It's hot!

I always make a big gingerbread and decorate it each cristmas since I was a kid (though mum would make it then). You can see the two last years in my gallery. This year I wanted to make something special. Not just decorating, but make a whole new design instead of the usual circle. The design idea I got straight from the game, which I was playing at the time.

Yeah, it was perfectly fine, untill I hung it up later the same night. The morning after the lover arc had fallen of in one piece, without any aparent reason. Bit now it's been broken and eaten anyway.

wow... yes a bit nerdy hehehe but I love the game (s). Been trying to get my fiance to play them. It all started with my dad... He even uses parts of the game when he is giving job interviews. He works for a software company, on helpdesk. So to test the "problem solving skills" of potential hirees ... you got it Myst!
