Description

Turkic Union is intergovernmental organization. Turkic Council and TURKSOY are predecessor of the organization. The union aims to create common policies for foreign relations, economy and defence. It also aims to bring countries closer together in cultural sense. It is aimed to create a common alphabet (Latin of course), and grammar and dictionary for languages group families (Oghuz, Kipchak, Karluk and Siberian).

MEMBER STATES: Fully independent states of Turkic Union

REPRESENTED REGIONS: Turkic states/communities which are recognized by constitution of their central governments.
States are Turkic autonomous regions.
Communities mean Turks are recognized by central government. But, they are not only owner of the state. For examle, Crimean Tatars are 3rd largest ethnicities. However they were recognized by Crimean Republic and Ukraine. In Turkic Union, they represented Crimean Turks, not whole Crimea or Ukraine. Therefore, they use their ethnic flag.

TURAN COUNCIL: Countries associated with Turkic Union. This group is not Turkic but Uralic and Altaic. These countries are not member of the union. However, they are invited to Turan Council to create common policy against common enemies, solidarity against terrorism and economic cooperation.

OFFICIAL STATUS OF TURKIC GROUPS: Countries which recognized a Turkic language. For example; Turkish is officially recognized even though the population of Turks is not much in Albanian Kosovo.

OTHER COUNTRIES: They have Turkic population, but not recognized their ethnicities, languages etc. They are not represented. In Europe, they are mostly based in Germany and France; Tajikistan in Asia; Libya, Algeria and Tunisia in Africa (Kouloughlis).
