Description Have a bit of young Loks with his sword. (Title referring to sword not Loki, for anyone who hasn't read the comics xD Laevateinn is actually supposed to mean "wounding wand" but I guess "damage twig" does paraphrase that, so yeah, Sigurd is excused xD)

Laevateinn design based on his ninja-star looking daggers from the Avengers movie. (Did you know that the dagger he had in TTDW is an Einherjar dagger and not his own? I was looking at Einherjar swords for this and the grip is the same as that of that dagger he had in that movie, which I'll have to rewatch to figure out how tf he got it xD)

Very nice!  Though I hate to think of Loki and Thor learning combat, given that I'm sure Thor had already bulked out quite a bit and took to it all very naturally, while Loki was smaller and leaner and yet they kept trying to force him to learn the same techniques as Thor, rather than techniques more suited to his body type.  *pets young Loki*

He's actually an excellent sword fighter in the comics xD (as someone who is weak af, does fencing and has managed to make all the guys in fencing fear me, I can tell you, it's not about physical strength in sword fighting xP)

Interesting!  So physical type really has no effect on the techniques that are best suited for each individual?  Good to know.  (I'm too klutzy to ever get competent at something like that, myself, but I'll take your word for it.)

With long sword fighting you still need quite a bit of strength in your upper arms (long swords (as in the historically accurate ones, less so the larping ones that aren't actually metal) are quite heavy, so to swing them around you do need some strength, but most males are able to get that alright (harder for females), but fencing swords are literal fuckign toothpicks of swords.
I'm doing epée which is the most hard core kind, cause everywhere on your opponent is target and the epée sword is the least bendy one, so you can actually get bruises and stuff, but it does not require any sort of actual strength you just need to land a hit and have fast reflexes.
In actual sword fighting like our dear space vikings would do though you'd probably need some force to actually pierce your opponent, rather than just land a hit, so yeah he'd need some strength but 1) asgardians are superhumanly strong anyway and 2) even if he was just a human, as an amab he'd be able to train to get the right strength needed for a long sword easily

Very interesting!  Though I do have to wonder, since Loki is actually an unusually tiny Jotun (whether he knows it or not), he might not have quite the same degree of innate physical strength as a true Aesir.  Far more strength than a human, of course, but when he's up against Thor and others, Loki might still (strength-wise) be a little disadvantaged, even if he's faster than most of his opponents.

UPDATE: I have been watching HEMA (historical european martial arts) videos and although in FENCING strength does not play a role (cause you only need to land a hit but it's not as much of a person on person fight as long sword or similar), meanwhile in longsword etc strength is an advantage, not a complete one but if you have the same technique level as your opponent and they're stronger then they have an advantage in that (as explained in this video: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ev-j59… )
