Great Work! Nice concept, i like how u have the "impact" not takening over the image, that leaves room for the rest, which great. I love the nebula and i see what u were trying to do with it, but i don't think it worked properly, some parts just don't fit the rest. Other then that the planets are great (psamtik is right about those (moon/planets tho), details brillant and lighting is great also, nice rings too. def a fav!

very nice job. i like the bottom part a lot. in fact, i think the lower half alone would stand alone as a better image; the top just adds too much (and thus takes away) from the energy of the lower. interesting spin you put on the popular collision theme, with the bolide melting through the surface. props on that. suggestion: the outer shockwave ring just seems a bit too round and perfect. you might consider a tad bit of jaggedness to add a bit of realism. also, i'm not sure what it is about the lower right dark-cloud / nebula thingy, but to me, it makes the binary stars seem as if they were either way too large or way too close.

Awe, I"m sorry you lost the original. I know how annoying it can be to have to start all over again when you really want to make something. I know my things always look worse when that happens because I rush to catch up, but this piece has turned out very well. I love all the tanish colors and the sky and everything. It's great!

two more things before i go, there are two small planets coming out of the nebula and they're both squished slightly.... Also theres a planet inside the ring system, that would have collided a long time ago

very impressive work bud. The only thing i'm not so sure about is the neb work, its very confusing to me because its hard to figure out what part is which. Its not so clear, but the planets and detail is awesome

Amazing. I'm currently learning how to do rings. Could you send me a message detailing your style? I'm really interested in learning. My planets are a bit dull right now.

Keep up the good work. This is awesome.

nuformz [2004-03-06 18:17:15 +0000 UTC]

the explosion on that planet is amazing. I think your over-abundance of small planets and moons is a little bit much though.
Personally, I prefer a simple 1 or 2 planet piece, although the nebula does bring it mostly all together. I think the brushing could be a little better and definitely more detailed, but for starting over from scratch after a hard disk failure, I give props to your determination.

me again hi. you also might wanna look at the planet on the top left, it looks like stars are shining through it... or are those lights? either way the peice is frigging awesome.

DKF In reply to Ashworks [2004-03-06 17:02:10 +0000 UTC]

yea, those are lights, maybe i should had made them yellow.

Ashworks [2004-03-06 15:38:22 +0000 UTC]

its ABSOLUTELY amazing!!

My only problem with it is that the clouds, they arent bad at all, its just there isnt as much depth between the dark and the light. It seems like the clouds are all on one level, just changing color. Now i dont know how youd go about doing it, but if you could show that they were at different distances, the piece would be perfect in everyway.

excellent work dude, i was scrolling down slowly, a little bit pensive due to the nature of the title. The first top planet didn't really make too much of an impact on me, however i liked the nebula details instantly, especially some of the textures, however it never struck me as outstanding UNTIL i reached the impact planet. This is certainely a DELICIOUS explosion effect you've created here, planet texture. rings and flare are superb additions to the piece too. EXCELLENT overall work dude
