The plane jerked, rocked and vibrated, and in the flight compartment the remaining guests clung to each other. Amaya, Kerstin and Hendrik all sat side by side on their seats and held hands. Suddenly there was a loud bang and the screeching of cracking metal could be heard. It sounded awful. The cause was that the landing gear of the aircraft had broken off and the plane now skidded with the underside over the runway. Through the small windows Amaya and Kerstin could see how the sparks flew and the outside world quickly passed by them. Steffi did everything she could and tried to bring the heavy aircraft to a standstill. Then finally the squeaking of the metal became quieter and the plane lost speed. It slithered a few meters until it finally came to a complete standstill. It was done, the plane had landed and stalled. The silence that followed was unreal and seemed eerie. After all the excitement, after all the drama it was suddenly so quiet. But even this moment did not last long. Because already from far away, approaching sirens and vehicles were heard. The airport fire brigade and other rescue workers were on their way.
