My (very late) entry for 's MLaaTR 10th Anniversary Wall of Art!

I spent about two weeks sketching, trying to come up with a good idea for a pic. I knew from the beginning it was going to be either Vega or Vexus, though, but there wasn't any particular context. At one point the pic was almost going to be about Jenny, Vega and Melody posing on a beach on Cluster Prime but I couldn't nail down a proper sketch and I figured it would take less time to come up with a new, simpler pic than start fixing the existing one. It was after that when I realized that a Playtoon cover would be absolutely perfect for the occasion, seeing how it was originally a creation.

I tried to stick on-model as close as possible when drawing Vega. She's probably one of the most challenging MLaaTR characters to draw, mostly because there isn't any official reference of her beyond 'Escape from Cluster Prime' which was her only appearance in the show. I actually had the picture finished by Sunday afternoon but I held back releasing it until I had made certain there wasn't anything that needed to be changed or tweaked. Thankfully, it was worth it as there were some blaring typos present. Toonspew also suggested giving Vega a belly button to make her anatomy match Jenny's, which I think was a great idea as it really balances out the otherwise barren midriff, and helped me figure out the series' timeline so that I could use the proper year.

Speaking of the year, it should be 2074 as I forgot about the problematic Christmas special, which states that Jenny was being controlled by Todd Sweeney for at least one complete year. However, I never liked the episode very much, and it does cause some issues in the timeline (Jenny would actually be one class behind Brad and the other students after the events of that special). This is fan art after all, and if we go as far as to pretend large parts of the third season never happened, can't we just ignore the Christmas special as well? Thus, the year in the magazine is 2073 and I'm not going back to change it.

The mock article teases, once again, are based mostly on actual MLaaTR episodes, with some fanon/headcanon thrown into the mix. The most obvious one would probably be the one mentioning a 'happy ending' for Melody. Those of you who have seen the not-so-great third season of the show are well aware of some of the downer episodes that pretty much pitted Jenny against characters that had earlier been her (or the other protagonists') allies. In this case, I felt it would be neat to hint that Melody's story wasn't over just yet and that truce could be achieved.

Oh, and the high price is because according to Back to the Future Part II, there will be massive inflation in the future.
