So a few months back, I asked a friend from work if I could color some of her lineart, because I really dig her style. So she whipped up a drawing for me within like 2 days, I went home and scanned it immediately, and there it sat on my hard drive for months, un-colored. I had been so busy with all these graphic design projects that I haven't colored anything in ages. But after Comic Con last week, I think I was inspired to finally have some not-design-oriented-Photoshop-fun, and decided to color this.

I was gonna have it as a surprise for her tomorrow, but, of course, she has to ask about it for the first time EVER at work today, and I'm a bad liar, so I had to confess that I had worked on it a bunch yesterday and was almost done with it. I think she'll like it-- I'm definitely happy with it. I have a feeling that it is much grittier than she expected, as the lineart would seem to lend itself to a less textured coloring style. (Does that make sense? I think so.) However, I feel my coloring is beginning to lean to this darker, grainy look, which I am very happy about, as I think it is the beginning of a definition to my own coloring style, and not just an adaptation of my influences.

Oh yeah... what is it? I think it is a character that she created for her World of Warcraft thing... but I don't know much about all that.
