Misty's always been a pretty iconic Pokemon character, and I for one will always remember her because my first Pokemon was a Charmander. Brock was bad, but Misty slaughtered me about 8 times before I finally worked out that relying on my Charmeleon to win every fight just wasn't going to happen. Starmie and Staryu, then, were her iconic pokemon, in my eyes. Especially Starmie. Oh lord, that Starmie...I was so very penniless after all those losses!However, despite how much her Red/Blue design is burned into my mind, I went with the Heart Gold/Soul Silver design because I always feel it has a bit more charm to it. Being fair, her original design was a black bikini set, so I guess it didn't have much to fight back with.
Anyway, this was a fun one to do, and I hope you like it!

This outfit first appears in Pokemon Gold and Silver, so it's been around since 1999. This is the game version of Misty, not the anime version, so there's some differences.
In the game her age is never officially stated, but it's fairly obvious that she's older than Red. Add a timeskip between RBY and GSC and it's clear that she isn't anywhere near 11 here. She's probably somewhere closer to 18.
I'm not sure where you're getting over-sexualisation from, anyway. It's just a swimsuit. Because she's a swimmer.

She is my first crush i ever had, other than my best friend from 1st grade. even though i'm a male, i got a nickname cristy-misty because i loved her. she was the best pokemon character ever. i will still love her even though doesn't make an appearance anymore.
Hopefully, i will find a love some time in the future instead of loving cartoon characters.

You know, I never liked the HGSS Misty design... but you've really sold me on it, something about her expression and the colors (and maybe getting to see her with a Starmie that LOOKS like a Starmie!) Cuuuuute job.

I know I'm supposed to be looking at Misty in this picture, but I love that Starmie drawing so much. It's coloured so beautifully, and I've never seen a sweat mark on a Starmie before. I gotta say it adds a whole new layer of personality to Starmie I've never seen in any other drawing of it. Since Starmie is genderless and wouldn't really care about what its looking at, I get the feeling it's thinking something along the lines of "I just don't understand humans sometimes"
