Nice image, I think it could do with some smoothing in places though, the transitions between shades are a bit too visible for my taste, the hair could do with a little work too, id use a custom brush to do the strands, i was a user of just the normal brushes but was converted when I downloaded some from IFX which are awsome for skin tone and hair, Im not a fan of the "stamp" type of brush though feels like im cheating and it limits your options.

Ha ha alright. I might look into that. I can definitely see how the transitions are a bit rough for some people's taste, but I'm actually fond of the rougher value changes. It just reminds me of oil painting and I dig the look. But I understand where you're coming from. ha ha yeah I know the hair is f-ed. It's pretty terrible, but I'm working on hair a lot now. This is probably the best I've done and I'm getting to a point where I'm somewhat happy with it. I'll work on it some more though. And I love the water color "stamp" brushes I have. It's just kind of a signature for me. Thanks for the crit, about time someone treated me as human.

I know what you mean with the watercolour "stamp" brushes, I dont really mind them so much for background work but ive seen a lot of peeps compose the whole image out of these brushes. This I dont mind so much if the person made em themselves but personally if I did this with other peeps brushes I wouldnt feel the piece was mine. I tend to make my own from my own texture photos and then its only for texture not the main components of the image, each to their own I suppose.

Not sure about rough colour in comic style lines, doesnt do it for me, all well and good in fine art and the like, just one mans opinion though

Yeah I dont agree with a whole piece done that way, But I use maybe to touches of the pen and I'm good. Just kinda ambient effect ya know? I get what you're saying and I've been meaning to make a lot of my own brushes. Just haven't gotten around to it. Ha ha yeah I know, rough color and heavy outlines don't mix fantastically well, but I'm trying to push past their boundaries. I love the way it looks and I'm going to do it that way ha ha. I can see how you don't dig it though. It's kind of ingrained for comic art to look a certain way when the lines are there. I say f that. ha ha
