Description A well respected and traveled member of the The Mystical Forest Zone and Middle Ground communities died on the 17th of March this year.

Joseph Tancredi, or Lord Enki as he was known to me and most others on the internet, was a great artist with an unmatched ability to inform anyone of their mistakes in art, be it sprites or drawn, at a level that no one else has ever been able to match. His critique taught me alot of what I know now about spriting aswell as art, and has given me a level of self analysis about my work that has allowed me to steadily improve, during periods where I am consistently making art or sprites.

Aside from that, he was a great friend. Whether it be a serious discussion or just some random fooling around such as a question like 'Would Samus beat Zero?' he was always willing to chat about things. He was also a great roleplayer and storyteller, able to work through story ideas and help out others with their own, as well as duke it out with their characters in text based roleplay.

No parting words seem adequate. Enki is an irreplaceable friend and will be missed.

Regarding the Art itself: Aside from pallate taken from Enki's existing sprite sheet, scratch spriting of Enki's helmet, took about an hour to get done. I wanted to make a more... complex background, but I didn't feel anything I thought of really fit with Enki and who he was. In the end I settled for a flat white background and used Papyrus font for the text.

Why did I not know about this memorial sooner? I remember when Enki died.  I had just gotten back from Miami and heard the news. He was a cool dude and it blew my mind that he liked my stuff at all.

I miss him so damn much.

Not sure how widely I posted this around at the time. Hard to believe it'll be seven years since he's been gone in a month. :s

It's difficult to come to terms with, yeah. I'm trying to deal with it, but for all everyone says about 'closure' that huge hole someone's departure from the world leaves in your life is always going to be there.

He definitely left a big hole. I'm not sure if I'll come to terms with it anytime soon. I sure you knew him longer than I did, but he just so... special, for lack of a better word.

We talked on and off for about 5 or so years. Enki was always helpful as far as art and inspiration was concerned and quite adept at pointing out mistakes. But that wasn't what made him great. It was just the way his personality was and how he talked to people, and his own life views, etc. That's stuff that can't be replaced. So yes, he was very special.

Well, I only knew him for 3 years. I've never met anyone with a direct way to critic art and give his own perspective and suggestions. And his spriting skills were superior to anyone I've ever met. I seemed so wise in everything else. And we related as far as RL went. In a way, he introduced me to so many areas of the internet due back when I was first getting into it. Most of what I do online is a direct result of his influence.

I can say the same of some of the things he exposed me to. His artistic critique has driven me to excel myself at spriting, and art more generally. Can't say anyone else has been able to do that.

He drowned as a result of an accident while swimming. Multiple revival attempts were made, aswell as airlift to hospital. He was pronounced dead soon afterward.

I wish I spoke with him more often before all this happened.

I know. But nothing will change the impact his death has had on all of us. Right now, I intend to carry forth his memory and use what he taught me to be as good of an artist as I can.
