Description Thank you Peter for ripping out my heart and stomping on it.  What an amazing episode. It hurt to watch him in this.

This is stunning!

It's sad that it's his last series of the show. I've already fallen in love with Pearl too. She has been a breath of fresh air.

Capaldi is and will always be my Doctor though.

Thank you so much!

It really is sad.  I think this season he is shining as the Doctor and I love seeing him with Pearl! She really has been wonderful. I even like Nardole!  Team TARDIS FTW.

He will always be mine as well.

Busy, busy, busy. I'd say "Long time no see" but I think under the present circumstances, that would be in bad taste, even for me.

Capaldi's right, you *are* doing great. Since you do sometimes use it anyway, I can't tell if the completely black background is deliberate. If it is, kudos.

Ouch, that was bad.  But OMG, the hurt/comfort!  Stabbing me in the heart!

I purposely left the background completely black because he's "in the dark".

How are you doing?

Hey, it was Jamie Mathieson's idea. I've said it before and I'll say it again: Moffat's evilness must be highly contageous, Matt Smith's case proves it.

I know, I know, it's just that you do that sometimes anyway, so I wondered. But I was like "nah, this is SYMBOLISM!" So, yeah, kudos.

Well, I've finished uploading my L cosplays (Death Note: The only one eating cake at the moment ), I'm back to the 11th Doctor (Doctor Who: The Maniac Dreamer ), I made another collage which DoctorWhump graciously requested for their gallery (Doctor Who: They are never small to me ), and I plan on doing young!Jack Sparrow -as per the flashbacks in the new movie- in the near future.

I love Jamie's writing.  He didn't think Moffat would go for it. Moffat not only loved it but took it even further.  8O

Yep, meant to do that with the background.  I think having clutter around would take away from the moment. Thanks!

Dang!  You've been busy!  I'm actually trying to write a fic to fill in between when the Doctor is exposed to the vacuum of space and "sees" Bill again.  I'm rusty.  Haven't written anything since House MD.

Your gif made my son and I laugh.    But seriously, I don't know!  He can't be blind through Christmas!  I'm hoping by the end of episode 7 he'll have found a way to restore his eyesight. But wow, what a twist!  Poor Doctor can't enjoy the beauty of space, seeing stars being born, nebulas. I feel so bad for him right now.

I'm sorry to spoil it for you but I'm sure you've already been spoiled.  OMG, the episode was amazing!  Let me know how you liked it once you see it.  Peter was fantastic as usual but even went above and beyond in this one.  I'm telling you, my heart literally ached.

This is a really gorgeous painting of such a heartbreaking moment!  I love how you drew his hair and all the little details of his face.
It's insane the amount of emotions he can show without even saying a word. And I have to admit, watching that episode hurt!

I even considered drawing something from 'Oxygen' too but I'm currently finishing a scene from 'Face the raven' and I'm literally shading the drawing with my tears so I guess it will take a while to try this one. XD

Awwww, sorry for the tears!  That was such an amazing piece of work by Peter. He should win every freaking award under the sun.  My heart just ached every time they showed him with those clouded eyes and struggling to save everyone.  I've probably watched it about 5 times now and each time I see little subtleties Peter did while playing blind.

Then that last scene.....Ahhhhhh!  I wonder if his eyes still hurt and also it's got to be a reflex to rub them and hope things will suddenly reappear.  Just ouch. The look on his face here...

Let your FtR drawing dry and you can get to Oxygen when you have time.  So many scenes to draw!  Thanks for the compliment!

You know, I just rewatched that episode and it's quite surprising all the subtle details in his acting, Peter really deserves all the awards this year!  A scene that also tugged at my heart was that one near the end when Nardole keeps trying to dissuade him from what he was doing with the cables and even with all that was happening the Doctor was still fighting with every inch of determination to keep them safe.

I think you managed to capture his pain and vulnerability in the end, he really let his guard down in that moment. That part also reminded me of a dialogue from Listen when Clara said that even the Doctor was afraid of the dark and I couldn't help but wonder how scary must be for him to be blind and keep that a secret even from Bill.

And I was drawing that scene when Clara says goodbye, it's almost finished now. ^^(just need to finish shading the Doctor's hair XD) Maybe I should try writing a few chapters from my fanfics to gather enough courage to start drawing something from Oxygen.  (oh, and you're welcome! )

* A scene that also tugged at my heart was that one near the end when Nardole keeps trying to dissuade him from what he was doing with the cables and even with all that was happening the Doctor was still fighting with every inch of determination to keep them safe.*
This is the other scene I've discussed with a number of fans. He showed so much emotion and pure passion in this scene.   The Doctor never gives up!  Seeing him struggle to find the units and pulling all the cables.  All while blind.  That was awesome.  When he held his hands up and yelled "keyboard, please!"  That hurt too as Nardole guided him over to it.  Seeing the Doctor needing help is so rare. This vulnerability makes me love him even more.

What can I say about Peter's performance there?  Beautiful. You can feel the tension and desperation throughout that scene.  He had so much to do in that part.  I read somewhere that Peter didn't stop the whole time they were shooting that, moving around like a maniac. I'm guessing the sweating and panting was all Peter.  I was thinking that with the exposure to the vacuum of space, his respiratory system and throat all took damage.  I've been reading up on exposure to the vacuum of space.  Eek.  His voice was lower, more quiet and husky sounding.  Just little things I think Peter adds to the part.  He is so brilliant.

That's why I chose this moment to draw. It was a private moment where he showed his weariness, pain and vulnerability the most. Besides, the lighting was awesome!  The Listen comparison makes it even worse, thinking what he must be going through right now.

Ow, FtR was another time we saw the Doctor's raw emotion showing through that tough exterior.  Can't wait to see it!!   Oh, and I want to read your fic too!  Give me a link!  I'm writing a fill-in between when the Doctor gave Bill his helmet and when Bill sees him again.

Wow, I just wrote a freaking novel here.  Sorry! I just love chatting with fellow DW and Peter fans!

Giu-sama In reply to Doctorwithaspoon [2017-05-20 04:37:18 +0000 UTC]

Haha, don't worry about the long comment, I love talking about DW too!

Reading about the filmings usually brings a whole new look on some scenes, and Peter puts so much heart in his acting that is simply inspiring to see how he's always evolving.
Knowing the Doctor he probably stayed exposed to the vacuum way longer than it was considered sane just to be sure that Bill was ok and that no one else would get hurt. Considering there was also internal damage to his respiratory system then it's possible that he was also in great pain during the whole event in that station, which makes that smile he gave Bill even more heartbreaking. (I was really cheering when they gave him a big hug in the end though XD)

I've seen many people saying that his Doctor is less emotive than the ones before, but I think it's quite the opposite actually. It's rare to see him open up, but there are moments like this one here that we can see his "I'm alright" attitude crack and it's like his feelings come crashing down all at the same time.

Your fic sounds pretty interesting, it would be nice to see a glimpse of what went through his mind, hope I can read it when you finish writing it!  Ah, and this is the link to my fic, it's mostly about some funny/happy moments between the episodes from series 9: link

I'll try to read your story!

I agree. The Doctor's emotions are so powerful that he tries to keep them in check.  When he does expose them, it's a flood of epic proportions.

Peter doesn't over act in the scenes, he says more with just his facial expressions. I felt David did that a bit but hey, to each his own.

OMG, last night's episode!  Wow.  Mind blowing.

I watched the new episode like an hour ago and I think I'm still processing everything that happened, and wow, I was not expecting that ending! I'm definitely going to rewatch it tomorrow.  And I was so happy to see Missy again! Michelle Gomez and Peter have a dynamic that's really similar to Roger Delgado and Jon Pertwee (I love those two in the classic DW series ^^), probably another reason why they are my favorite versions of both the Doctor and the Master.

I had a lot of fun writing that little fanfic, I even drew some sketches based on it, but I hope you like reading it if you have some time.

Made much more sense the second watching.

I'm trying to decide what scene to draw.  Any suggestions?

Giu-sama In reply to Doctorwithaspoon [2017-05-23 02:27:42 +0000 UTC]

I thought it was a really great episode, it was fun trying to piece together what was happening as the story progressed! For some strange reason I didn't notice that the Doctor had a cut on his eyebrow when I first watched, I think I was so intrigued by what was going on that it took a while to register that ending properly. XD

Hm, there were some good scenes to draw, it's hard to pick just one, but I particularly liked the moment when the Doctor realized he's not real and sends the message, Peter's expressions in that moment were brilliant. Though there was also a brief moment that he flashed a rather charming smile when Nardole told him he was an idiot. ^^

Doctorwithaspoon In reply to Giu-sama [2017-05-23 13:26:46 +0000 UTC]

That was my favorite scene!  When he said "I am the Doctor" just...wow.  So many emotions there with a sense of vulnerability.

Yeah, I had to watch again and saw when he wiped out while turning that corner.  Then the blood trail made sense.

I've watched it about 5 times now.  LOL  Makes complete sense now.

I'm going to start a new drawing this afternoon when I'm home from work.  We'll see what I can do.  I'm also trying to write a fill in for that scene in space when the Doctor gave Bill his helmet until she sees him in Section 12.  I'm so rusty at writing.

I was thinking "No way..."  Just wow.  Peter was fantastic. I have to say his eyes freaked me out when he first turned around.  Great CGI!  Anyway, thanks for the kind comment!

I can't say enough about Peter's performance in that episode.  My heart was aching watching him struggle. That scene where he was frantically trying to reroute the H2O was so powerful.  He was panting from exertion, sweating, doing everything he could to save them. The Doctor never gives up.  But that ending though! I was shocked!

For a split second, I was even thinking Bill was gonna die ... even when that thought would have been stupid as I had already seen a preview image of later episodes.

But really, the face when his screwdriver was broken ... fell so sad

I was trying to figure out how Bill was going to survive this one.  Didn't think it would end up being the Doctor who suffered the most!

Not only the face he made but the sound!    It was like a big long "ooooooooooooh...."  Like he didn't know what to say.
