Description I decided to start playig around with terragen again recently, apalled at the amount of 1 minute renders flooding in every day.

--

My message to Terragen debutantes:

To whom this may concern, Please refrain from submitting every single render you make. Instead, try working on one piece at a time and only stop when you're fully and truely satisfied with what you've completed. Don't hesitate to ask questions, I'm sure people such as *stotty , ~terragen , ~ johnwarren , ~merlin-tbd , ~duris , * billybollocks , ~alyn , myself and many others would be glad to answer them. Don't give up, and keep practicing.

4000*3000, rendered in 21 hours 54 minutes.

Fullview and enjoy

Gorgeous water and atmosphere! This is an appearance I would like to try. Maybe after I finish the string of Apo flames I'm rendering.

first word thought: Mermaid Isle <--- Peter Pan

this is something straight out of my dreams

I love the way you have made the reflection off the water almost into a rainbow the color progression up to the sun spot really adds movement to the water

I also like the shape of the clouds and how they brighten in contrast to the dark moutains

absolutely amazing *drools*

I like this a lot, it makes me want to get my copy of Terragen registered. I'm not entirely sure if I like the subsurface stuff, but still it's a very nice render.

heh... me... mentioned in a description, who woulda thought (add * tigaer to that list )

but anyway, not the point - excellent picture dogabone, quality that SHOULD be shown on deviantart as terragen at it's best, not at it's stereotyped point-and-click worst. anyway this is awesome. Perfect composition of excellent atmosphere, water, reflection, terraining (oh god the textures....) - it's getting my +fav.

and yeah i agree with you on the too many not-very-good terragen renders being submitted point of view. terragen has been becoming ever more popular since it's been getting into the DTF's and shown on the front page, and too many people interpret it as a 2minute, point and click program that requires little or no skill. This is a terrible perception of this intricate program. Good to see people like you bringing up the standard

This is reallty wonderful. I have missed seeing terragen by you I must say. I don't know if you want constructive comments or not, so I'll save what I have to say, and if you want them, send me a note, or something, and I reply again.
I agree that terragen is abused to make renders that have obviously not been thought out enough. I sadly, can never receive the results I want because, since I moved over to mac, I have not been able to register terragen again, so my images are, for me, about half the quality I would like. Someday, I will have money and means.
Anyway, I agree with your comment, if people are rendering for the sake of art, or the sake of showing off what they can do. ..either way, it really shouldn't be half assed, 5 minutes to build a work of art is not enough.
Thank you for making this statement, and I'm glad to see another TG from you, they have always been wonderful to me, and I hope to see at least one more in the future.
Bye
Sacha
