Lately, I've been absolutely fascinated by the general countenance of your photos. The Washington DC transfers, this shot, they're all characterized by the use of unfocused areas of the photograph as an essential element of the composition. In this shot, light comes into play, as well. Both the fine lines on his shirt collar and the darker parts of the face appear distinctly textured against the rest of the photograph. The microphone is so blurred that it looks to be more a part of the wall than a distinct object. Likewise with his shoulders. What I really want to know is: How did you get the face to show up in that way? Is it oversaturated with light while the neck has just the right amount of exposure?

although I do do a lot with lighting in my photos, in photoshop and with lights, this is a live photo that I had nothing to do with the lighting on. This is just lucking that it turned out to be my style.
