As I awakened early on that morning, once the coffee was ingested down my throat and the water from the hotel shower rinsed against my face, I stood in the middle of the room, lost minded, I glanced over at Juice, as he watched me attentively with a slow sway of his tail, I had went through memory lane in my mind as I gazed over his now adult body. He had looked stunning that morning, coat shimmering with gloss from his night time bath, eyes popping with ember while he watch me walk around. But before I could continue my train of thought, a nerving urge moved me to look at the phone for the time, “oh shxt”! I voiced loudly as I was way behind schedule and was almost late for the early morning check in. Grabbing everything I could in such a hurry, almost forgetting my keys and hotel card key, I raced with Juice on lead down the corridor, out the front doors and out to my car. Carmen already caged in by my husband’s swiftness; I placed Juice into his own and buckled up for the ride.

The arena was huge, something about being there seemed to remind me of my first time coming to the World Dog show event many years prior. The arena was always noisy, but full of energy. There were dogs everywhere, people and children swarming the judging tents and rings as they spectate for a win of their own dogs or breeds as we signed in and was awarded our place numbers.

The announcer’s voice roaring through the building, as our class is blurted to continue showing. Juice and Carmen both fighting for the title, each dog had their A-game ready to win. A single breathe is what I exhaled slowly, as we began to run around the ring, focused on the win, we fought for excellence.
