Description

So I know they probably didn’t mean anything by it (then again, this is HAL we’re talking about), but just for fun, I was wondering why “Welcome to the New World” was the song Kirby heard on the radio when he arrived. Like, why that song in particular, still on the airwaves long after there’s no one around to hear it anymore…?
My theory is that it was sort of like propaganda, playing several times a day (maybe non-stop) to encourage the people of the Forgotten Land to leave their ruined planet for the ‘new world’, the ‘land of dreams’ Leongar mentioned.
The lyrics don’t rule out this interpretation…and I like the idea that this one song can function as an anthem for both the events of the present AND the past. ^^
