-Yet another 'lost little boy' character...I have a bad habit of making these; hopefully no one besides me has noticed. 6v6; Anyway, Rust doesn't have a last name: R, U, S, and T, just happened to be the only letters visible on his little purple ID tag, so that is what Umber decided to call him.

-Speaking of Umber...so their story goes that she found Rust in a fire, a village burning down after it was attacked by Grimm. He seemed to be the only survivor, trying to defend himself with the high-tech Dust rifle he ended up taking with him. He doesn't talk about what he was doing there in the first place, or how he managed to survive the attack...to the rest of Team FOUR, his past is a mixture of things he claims he's forgotten and things he simply won't say.

-But what is the truth about Rust?? Believe it or not, I've got it figured out already~
He really doesn't remember a lot about his past-past: his parents sold him when he was still very young. And a lot of the things that have happened to him since are pretty hazy...but in general, he is aware that he was used as an experiment for fusing humanity with Grimm.

-So Salem's story goes that she was transformed by falling into the Grimm pool, right? Well, who's to say that someone else couldn't try the same thing? Why HASN'T anyone else tried the same thing, for that matter? The Grimm liquid isn't only confined to that one place; some Grimm even secrete it...at the very least, what's to stop an ambitious scientist from collecting it, analyzing it, and trying to find a use for it??
In this case, one such scientist sought to make a sort of "Grimm repellent" that you could inject someone with, which would basically make real Grimm see them as fellow Grimm, and refrain from attacking them. Of course, their research proved to be very dangerous, and voluntary test subjects (that wouldn't be missed) were hard to come by...which led them to turn to human trafficking. What's more, the unique abilities of the test subjects that survived made them valuable to certain buyers in the criminal underworld...and so, the research got darker and darker...

-Rust's abilities are very subtle; I don't really want him to be that kind of character that goes all 'psycho mode' and saves his teammates when all hope is lost. He doesn't need to overcompensate for the fact that he is a child. ^^
His main ability (and the first one that the rest of the team notices) is that he is practically invisible to Grimm; they tend to ignore him or shove him aside as they would any other obstacle. This works to his advantage as the team's sniper; he can focus on shooting without worrying about being attacked from behind.
However, if he does get attacked, he's extremely vulnerable: due to the Grimm infusion, his Aura is quite nearly nonexistent. It's assumed he wouldn't be capable of using a Semblance even if he had one.

-His other abilities are simply physiological/behavioral changes that take place in response to emotions; he starts to look a little more Grimmified (like Salem) when his usual level of nervousness starts to get out of hand.
If it escalates further into a panic attack or a nervous breakdown, his "Grimm half" starts to react to his emotional state and basically tries to destroy him, like a demonic version of anaphylactic shock. So far, Umber has been able to talk him down in these instances, before things get too bad.

-Additionally, he feels very uncomfortable around people in distress, and usually tries to get away from them...y'know, I made him the sniper basically on a whim, but I feel like it ended up being a really good choice for him, what with it allowing him to be distanced from everyone else and all. He likes his teammates and enjoys being with them...but deep down he probably feels like he doesn't belong.
