Ok... first Ill explain you who is who.Woman is Slavia, mother of the West Slavs. Shes holding baby Slovakia, the youngest of the siblings. And the girl on the righ is Czech Republic, the oldest one. Maybe you can recognize Poland on the left, but I absolutely dont know draw him, so better tell you
And there is not Sorbian, although it is West Slav, but I dont have an OC of him (but I think it should be two boys younger as Slovakia)

Actually I was thinking about Sorbia long time ago, but I would want to learn as much as possible before creating OC for nation I'm not from... I didn't even decide yet if Sorbia would be one or two characters.

I have Polish blood on my paternal side, and also some Czech (and possibly Sorbian) ancestry on my East German maternal side.
I wonder if anyone else has done a Hetalia OC for Sorbia yet... I better go check

Just a one question - since when exactly you think that the Slovaks' "national consciousness" was born? Well, I like to think that nation-tans are born thanks to people's belief in their nation. Unfortunately, in my history book I can't find any info about early (I mean at least Middle Ages) mentions about Slovaks, except Poland among Western Slavs I see only Czechia and Sorbs.
I would be really glad if you tell me some most important info about Slovakia, her history before Czechoslovakia. So how did Slovaks live without their own country - did they live with Czechs at first, before living under Hungary's rule? More or less I can imagine her relationship with Hungary (hate-hate), Czechia (like typical sisters, quarrels also happened - Czechs also tend to think that Slovakia is "that poor", am I right?), Poland (rather good, especially nowadays), but how about Austria? Other countries worth mentioning in Slovaks history? I'm just curious

Hungarians saying it was before 270 years. If you take it like this, Hungarian nation was born before 350 years, so you can see its stupid :/
If you want to let him/her born when some country was created, I think the best choice is creation of Principality of Nitra [link] in 9th century, or you can let us born in 5th century, when first Slavs came here.
You know, while Magyarization were destroyed lots of documents about non-Hungarians, especially about Slovaks, who never had their own independent country before (except Principality of Nitra, but it was just a polity), so in their case it was very easy to say that Slovaks are not nation, but just Hungarians speaking in non-Hungarian language.
Slovakia just never had any demand to have his/her OWN country. Great Moravia was common Czechs and Slovs country. After dissolution Hungary took Slovakia. Actually their relations were very friendly until 17th century, when magyarization started.
Czechs will never recognize Slovaks as a peer nation. Thats a fact. For them was Czechoslovakia actually Czechia and they (even if they liked Slovaks) believed that Slovaks will soon become one with them. Even when both nations like each other.
As after dissolution of Austria-Hungary, so after division of Czechoslovakia, Slovakia always had to start from nothing. S/he made in two centuries things that other BIGGER nations were creating for hundreds years. I really admire him/her for it.
Only thing that s/he now need is better government and more recognitions.

So in other words, Slovakia at first, after forming Principality of Nitra, lived with Czechia in Great Moravia?
Well, I like the theory of Slovakia being born in IX century. But then I'm not sure about exact moment of Poland's birth xD Maybe the VIII century, because "8th century brought a measure of stability to the Slavic people settled in Poland" as wiki said (even though the establishment of the Polish state took place in the X century). As for Czechia - VI-VII century, when Bohemians and Moravians arrived into Czech area, I guess? Oh, it's not so easy ._.

I know that during Austro-Hungarian rule Slovakia was still in fact under Hungarian rule, but did Slovakia and Austria have something in common? I asked, because capital of Slovakia and capital of Austria are really near to each other and maybe Slovakia supported Austria in some anti-Hungarian cases? Well, my half-Austrian friend told me that people in Austria have really friendly attitude toward Slovaks (and rather cold, but respectful, toward Czechs). I also wonder if you have in Slovakia some stereotypes or common opinions about Poles xD
And yeah, it's really impressive that Slovakia did so much in so short time. And you have euro, but I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or not if we realise that EU is slowly collapsing

Because Slovakia never had independent country before 20th century and his/her national revival was quite late, lots of people (including Slovaks themselfs) thinks that from West Slavs are Slovaks youngest nation.
Slovaks were in Panonia before Hungarians and theyre here until today.

Slovakia often asked to Austria things about authonomy and other, because he was the main leader of the country. He promised he will help, but after everything was back in normal, he acted as if nothing happened.
In 1848 revolution Slovakia even fought on Austrias side against Hungary.

Polish stereotypes? You have cheep sneakers, meat and cheese. You wanted to steal us lots of things - oštiepok, Jánošík, Orava and Spiš, or jobs in England. Actually also Czech, Hungarians and others wanted to steal us our things. We really felt sorry for you when your president died in airplain, because similar things youve got in history really often. And admirationed for reconstruction of Warsaw or that your nation survived even divided between three countries. Pope John Paul II. was Pole - thats great!!
Not that long ago i read some discusion about it - I think euro helped us in crisis, even if it looks quite contrary. I still more like Slovak koruna ^^

Theyre brown haired, cause I think there are too much blond characters xD Most of the Czechs and Slovaks are brownhaired, including me :3 And on the sketches they looked like that. (you can find them on Zerochan)

When? Few, someone (Hungarians) saying in 15th century, but thats a bulsh.t. xD And someone saying 6000 BC, which is maybe even more bulsh.t. But the most common theory is around 5th century (Slavs came here). Later there was Great Moravia, we and Czech were it together, then Hungary broke us and we spend under her rule 1100 years (!) We helped each other, but in 17th century Hungary goes crazy and she wanted change all non-Hungarians to Hungarians (or kill the nations, if you want). She hated us even more that Romanians! Really! Tót was very awful word to say "Slovak". But I think Ill write something about slovak history, as a Hoples here about Czechs [link] Ill ask her. :3
And about father? Hm... who is Polands father? Lech? So Czech is Czechs? But we dont have any legend like that... It can be Sloven (ancient Slovak), but they lived in Great Moravia, and already Slovakia was GM... WAAAAH, Its hard to say when is write "Sloven", if is it still Slav, or already Slovak!!! D:

So when Slavs came to Europe (first were Bulgarians if I'm not wrong) it can be young Slavia I think, and then when the tribes became bigger and there were rose different versions of the Slavic languages The Czech, Poland and Slovakia were born? It's difficult to change the history to life in Hetalia.
I didn't know about these bad relationships between Hungary and Slovakia before o.O I knew that they could not love each other but so much hate? Like Nazis with Jews?

Its not hate, just... dislike. Today its not that bad how was in in Austria-Hungary, then it was real terror ("Tót nem ember" - "Slovak isn't human"), magyarization was tragedy. But some Hungarians until today wants "reborn of Great Hungary", with ONLY hungarian nation. No minorities.
Slovakia - Slovenia, Slovensko - Slovinsko, Slovenija - Slovačka,... I like Slovenians
