Avehom
A curious evolution originating on the planet Xenaera. A primate-
avian hybrid, these creatures are capable of both flight and advanced
manual dexterity.

Sex Discrepancies
Both male and female display colorful plumage, which undergoes a
change in markings every molt. While the colors often remain the same,
typically with genetic similarities, it is not uncommon to notice some hue
changes between molts as well.

Male and females share typical humanoid proportions, and tend to
differentiate from each other mostly by wing shapes and vocal ranges.
Females will display rounder, broader wings, whereas males host more
narrow and sharper wings (typically accented by "primary guides", two
or three particularly large primary feathers located in the first positions).

These differences in shape permit difference in flight ability; males are
commonly better at sustaining "voyage" flights and maintaining stamina
while females will be more adept at close quarter, short flights, and can
often turn on a dime with ease.

Anatomy
Skeletal structure is predominantly humanoids with few distinct additions.
The wings of these individuals demand increased muscular efficiency. As
such, the secondary pectoral muscles which control down-strokes wrap
under the arm and around the ribs.

Scapular muscles controlling upstrokes wrap over the shoulder and anchor
to the breastbone on parallel sides. Due to the structure of their shorter
wings, female Avehoms host larger scapular muscles, forming a pseudo
"breast".

Bones of this species retain marrow mass, though at a much smaller level
than base humanoids (wihtin 10 to 20% of typical mass). This is most likely
to satisfy weight limits of powered flight. As a result, Avehoms are generally
unable to weather physical damage, and will die if stranded by a broken wing.

They offset their poor strength and weaker constitutions with deadly acrobatics
and acute sight.
