Let me add that when you're gonna draw a sketch for spriting, make sure to make the proportions clear enough that when you downsize i to sprite size, it will still be readable.

It's not that hard the way I do it.I say go for it. After you've drawn and colored a picture just downsize it in MS paint to about 150 pixels then start going over it with pixels that match the colors. Takes like 25 minutes. Also you don't have to draw too many details as they get drowned out when you downsize the picture. That's how I do it, it might not be the ''proper'' way but it works.

I'm also studying on pixel art and what I can say about your sprite is that for a character that's trying to be expressive, it's hard to read in that style and scale. There are some rough jagged edges that could be trimmed off both in the sprite and the drawing. Your general style is ice, it's just that certain proportions need some adjusting.

If it helps, you can look up the spriters dictionary to get a good insight on pixel art. I know I did. It also helps to join a spriter community.

You're right though. If I ever could possible make a game, I'd love for it to have some resemblance to Megaman 8, or even better Megaman and Bass since that's on SNES. I enjoyed 8, not a big fan of most of the music though but the game is alright.
