Hi Dominik..Time for a bit constructive criticism! I like the water and sky a lot - and the front clifs work fine as well. Think the rear clifs are to dark, and the contrast here should probably be damped a bit since there are farther away..
Also, Black is a dangerous color - too much and it tends to kill the painting. I use it only in very limited manner - when I paint casting shadows I most often use bluish or perhaps purple values..
greeting from Dk..
Henrik

I always appreciate critics Henrik
Well for me the water turned out quite well... I agree... but the value grouping in the rocks sucks somehow. The rocks in the foreground could have been a bit lighter relating to the middleground cliff. But believe it or not... the background cliff wa even darker in contrast to the middle one.
I know that in most cases the elements that are further away tend to be lighter because of atmospheric dust particles. But we had rain during the night so the air was very clean and flooded with the mediterranian sun.... and the distance to the background cliff was rel. minimal.
Unfortuntely the photo of the painting does hardly show the bluish darks... I haven't used black at all.... only blues, purples and neutral tint for the shadows.
I see this the same way like you do.... shadows are painterly more attractive with blues and purples (in most cases).
Thank you Henrik
cheers
