Promised critique:
Impressive shot. I love the pose - and you're right, the shot does work exceptionally well in black and white. As to that, though, you might want to consider making this monochrome instead of straight b/w (I'm not so much thinking sepia as perhaps a subtle red). I like the DOF - I'm impressed that you managed to get this at 1/50. My own attempts to shoot squirrels have yielded rather dismal results, but then, I don't have a telephoto lens. I've been reading some of the comments on this, and I have to disagree with the one about the tail being out of focus. Yes, it's slightly blurry, but I think that almost adds to it (and the shutter speed, incidentally, has nothing to do with the DOF). Do not go to ISO 400 on shots like this. You're in broad daylight, and this one is bright enough. If you needed to, you could increase the brightness digitally without adding the graininess of a higher ISO. Composition-wise, it doesn't quite conform to the rule of thirds, but that's easy enough to fix with a simple crop.
Very nice photo.

This is very well composed! Excellent composition! The b/w looks amazing. Tiny, tiny bit more contrast? Not sure.
Anyway, it could probably have been sharper (as someone before me also pointed out). At least his face should've been. Tiny adjustment in ps and you're there.
His nose blends a little bit with the background though, but what can one do? And it doesn't matter at all. My critiques are all just details. Overall, this is a great photograph and I really like it! Well done! (:

Great photo man sharp image where the face is concerned but theres also a slight blur on the tail. I recommend using a smaller F/ point and using a higher shutter speed. Because 1/50 is still quite slow and can cause a blur at times especially with animals. I'd recommend even jumping up to 1/100 and kicking the iso to 400 if you have to. Depends if you don't mind a bit of noise or not.

thanks . As to the DOF issue, I can see where you're coming from, but I'm not sure I neccessarily agree. Not that I nt disagree, but I'm just not sure if the current DOF is better or worse than it otherwise could be - in some ways, it gives the picture a kind of soft look, If you know what I mean. On the other hand, it may look better with the whole squirrel in focus. I'm not sure. As to the shutter-speed issue, the same applies - the blurred tail seems to be a mixture of being OOF, and some slight motion blur, so again it's personal prefernce over whether it'd be better or worse with a higher shutter-speed. Now I look again at the picture, and compare it with similar pictures taken at the same time, I think I agree with you - the picture could be better with a little more DOF and a slightly higher shutter-speed.
Anyway, thanks for the crit and the fave

At the end of the day it is down to personal opinion but I think that when it comes to wildlife shots no matter what they may be a sharp image of the animal is best. Soft focus sometimes to me looks like there trying to cover up blurred patches even if that may not be the case.

yeah, I know what you mean - though in some cases soft focus can give a nice look.

Nice picture of that squirrel.
That the squirrel didn't moved is almost impossible xD.
Or did it moved?

eh... I can't remember. Though I do remember it staying completely motionless for several minutes in a different pose, a bit further away from me.
