Description

As the commander of all US Army WACs* in the ETO* in the Spring of 1944, Brigadier General Domenitzo spent countless hours supervising the thousands of WACs supporting the invasion preparations in England. Fortunately she had the assistance of her able aide-de-camp and driver, Lieutenant Etherea Serendipty, who worked tirelessly to keep the General’s appointments straight, make sure she got to where she needed to be, and ensured that she was always fully briefed by her staff. These were extremely difficult tasks in wartime London with the blackout making driving difficult, schedules constantly changing, the weather typically atrocious, and the constant threat of the “blitz.” With the help of her aide, however, Domenitzo had whipped the WACs in England into a very efficient and effective organization that won praise from the Supreme Commander, General Eisenhower, himself. In the process however, the stress placed on the General was enormous. Again, fortunately, her beautiful aide was available to make the General’s frequent very late nights in her office in the downtown London WAC headquarters bearable and, occasionally, even pleasurable. After their most recent late night work session the General made a mental note to herself to talk to “Ike” about making Serendipity a Captain. The talent that girl had more than justified the promotion. In fact, the General thought with a smile, if the war went on very much longer, Serendipty might even make General herself before going home.
