Description
I first wanted to draw Sinornithosaurus or Microraptor, but I've allready drawn them so here is another one: Balaur bondoc.

It's a small Dromaeosaurid that lived in Romania, isolated on an island. This is very interesting because these kind of animals always evolve in other species than their ancestors on land.
Same happened with Balaur: we know his ancestors cold fly and that they evolved back into a land living dinosaur. This gave Balaur some unique features: he has two foot claws instead of one like normal Dromaeosaurids, this is because his first toe (with his ancestors it was only used for gripping just like modern birds) directioned itself back to the front of the foot and grew a large claw. Balaur couldn't fly anymore so the use of gripping branches was no longer needed. Also, he only has tw fingers on each hand instead of three. Why the third finger disappeared in time is a mystery.

Balaur had a length of 1,80 metres (about the size of Velociraptor), but had shorter legs than an average raptor. He was also very muscular for a raptor of this size. On his island, Balaur was probably the apex predator, capable of killing prey bigger than himself because of his double pack of claws. (the only bigger predator was the pterosaur Hatzegopteryx)
