Its litteraly AMAZING! This is what it says on the inside cover:
Narrated by Death, Markus Zusak's groundbreaking new novel is the story of Liesel Meminger, a younge foster girl living outside of Munich in Nazi Germany. Liesel scratches out out a meager existence for herself by stealing when she discovers something she can't resist-books. Soon she is stealing from Nazi book-burnings, the mayor's wife's library, wherever they are to be found.
A quote:
"how does it feel, anyway?"
"How does what feel?
"When you take one of those books?"
At that moment, she chose to keep still. If he wanted an answer, he'd have to come back, and he did. "Well?" he asked, but again, it was the boy who replied, before Liesel could even open her mouth. "It feels good, dosen't it? To steal something back."
