Yup. This was based on a real comment I received after drawing another comic about artists being messy. It was really dumb

This comic was inspired by one of the more pretentious things I've heard someone say about artists. It made me very angry at first, but now I realize that it's kind of sad. Artists, or people who just enjoy creating, get so much crap from outside of our field. Why make it a more hostile environment with comments that are exclusionary? So anyway...the comic was a way to express my frustration with that situation.

I think it's because there really isn't an objective measurement of artistic talent, so people make it up as they go along. Even I fall into that when it comes to modern art (most, BUT NOT ALL, of which I think looks really stupid).

Well, I'm a very precise microbiologist... which means that I stain my microbes for exactly how long I'm supposed to... which means that I have to pick up the slides with my fingers and get dye all over my hands and my lab coat... XD
