Description A pic from the fifth shot I just finished for my cartoon. Shot 5 (S05) was the longest in the cartoon: 18 seconds long! Still need to add a background and add lighting via After Effects.

This is a good pic as any to show Kassandra and Helen's friendship, which gets better and grows stronger over the series.
For you bronies out there, Kassandra is best described as a mix of Discord and Rainbow Dash, whilst Helen is Fluttershy with a little bit of Twilight Sparkle.

"Digital Cel" is a term SCAD came up with for its Flash Animation classes. I don't know if it's actually used in the industry. They don't teach us how to use actual cels in school because animation studios haven't used them since the early 90's due to digital coloring technology. I read once that Ed, Edd, n Eddy was the last cartoon to use cels and they switched to digital near the end of the show's run.

This may be a stupid question. But in your view what is the difference between cells and 'digital cel'?

A "digital cel" is me showcasing a scene from my cartoon without a background because I haven't made one yet.

That makes sense.

Incidentally, Cats Don't Dance was the last MOVIE to use painted cels in the USA.

I never used "digital cel", just "layers". It really depends. When you work for a studio, ask them what terms they use so's you don't not get no misunder-confused or whatnots.

I don't think anyone outside of SCAD uses that term. Why they use it is beyond me.

Love the designs and looking forward to seeing this.
If one is to adapt the cel analogy - wouldn't this classify as *two* "digital cels"? Since I assume that the characters are each grouped individually in your animation program.

I don't really use the term myself, but I thought it'd fit for just this picture.
I'd say there is one cel, since I grouped all both characters into one. I only do that when the characters are in close proximity, like one holding the other.
