I don't hate this show.
I don't hate the plot.
I don't hate the characters.
My main issue with this show is that it's humor is inconsistent.
When producing the second season of Toons These Days, all the scripts were written back in September or August before a lot of new shows aired. But since I had some free time, I decided to make this quick video. An Uncle Grandpa review is one of the most requested cartoons in recent times, and it was the easiest to get done. Plus it's always good to do full animation every now and then.
Toons These Days is taking a two week break and will return January 4th. Please bookmark this website this website since I'm no longer going to notify people of a new episode on Deviantart.

I found that review very fair and I don't take Doogy so seriously cuz he's a character and is suppose to be grumpy and... well, the hate comes through when it's actually sincere like with the Problem Solvers... though who could like that mess of a cartoon... *shiver*
But I have a HUGE problem with the characters, not Uncle Grandpa, but those other characters are not really that needed. I get that when you get a full length show, you need a bigger cast to make bigger stories, but did "Giant Realistic Flying Tiger" really need to be a main character? He was a hilarious gag in the pilot, but making a main character just seems foolish, and Pizza Steve is very forgettable. Really the only one I like outside of U.G. is the weird dinosaur guy and I can't even remember his name, so it's mostly cuz he's the most interesting and weird...

Though, if you do not mind me asking, do you care to elaborate a bit on the humor inconsistency? I'm actually curious to know as this is the first time I've ever heard of that as a criticism (most criticisms are "I HATE THIS SHOW I DIDNT EVEN WATCH IT!!!" or "I WATCHED ONE EPISODE AND I CANT EVEN THINK OF A REASON WHY I HATE IT I JUST DO"), so I would love to hear what you have to say :3

I saw the show, and I didn't like it.
Although I feel it kinda appeals to a certain audience, it doesn't really seem like a funny show. I'm glad it isn't another fart-and-burp kinda show, but the humor lacks appeal. And I feel like the basic theme surrounding it kinda makes me feel uncomfortable, and the characters are unlikeable. Pizza Steve feels very gloated, Mr. Gus seems like a stereotypical bum, and Uncle Grandpa kinda reminds me of a pedophile. [His accent & all-out way he is dressed.] I feel the creators of the show didn't really work hard, and just kinda just try to appeal to small children who enjoy seeing something just kinda whimsical.
I feel like it appeals to smaller, [Maybe 5 - 7ish?] younger audiences. But giving CN's current status right now, this isn't a total surprise.
I did watch about 3, (The babysitter, the demon baby and one about karate or leg-wrestling?) and it doesn't seem that good.
I prefer something more plot-based, and less...... LSD-Colored. Like Steven Universe

Though the pedophile thing is literally wrong though. Like not even like wrong opinion it's just literally a wrong statement that's not true at all but then again I watch the show and I go behind the scenes of the show watching interviews following the crew's blogs and searching the bowels of the internet for as much information as I possibly can get and I can assure you it has nothing to do with pedophilia and anyone who says that is wrong. They can have that opinion I guess but they are basing they're opinion on something that is untrue.
There IS plot, but I've explained this to others so much that unless you want me to elaborate I'm not going to say anymore about that statement. Pizza Steve is more than a gloated jerk, Mr. Gus is not a bum at all (far from it), and the creators put alot of work into this show (art and storyboards are fantastic! the art for the games are great too omg so happy I was able to break down all the graphics of the games so I can put them on the wiki). Again, those are statements I will elaborate on ONLY if you want me to because I don't want to sit and talk to a wall. I've went ahead and explained myself to people only to be ignored, blocked, or passed off as a troll so. I'm more than happy to elaborate if you'd like me to, though.
Also, Steven Universe is a good show but I feel like it's waaayyy over-glorified than it really needs to be. I mean it is a great show, yes! It's revolutionary that it has a female creator and contains strong female characters that serve as good role models for the main male character and that's really awesome! However, Steven Universe for the most part has that same Adventure Time and Regular Show feel to it. I'm not saying it's a terrible thing to be like that, but it's a formula everyone is comfortable with and I feel like the fact everyone is so comfortable with that formula that if a show like Uncle Grandpa comes in and breaks the mold it gets called out for being "shitty" because it's "different" and "not like Adventure Time or Steven Universe" and I'm so sick of this comparison because there literally is nothing to compare because the shows are so vastly different. Steven Universe touches on more emotional things like Adventure Time and Regular Show do, where as Uncle Grandpa literally remains whimsical and silly while still managing to keep really good characterization and tie in alot of the seemingly random plot events together, which is what I find fantastic about the show.

I feel like Mr. Gus looks like a bum, but after seeing some more episodes, he seems more like the group babysitter/the guy who actually prevents the characters from destroying Earth, (Considering they have a demon baby setting in their RV, I can can only imagine what else there is.
Also, Steven Universe is being over-glorified.
If anything, I prefer the 90s and early 2000s cartoons, (Waiting for someone to flip their crap and call me out for not being a 90s kid, considering this DeviantArt AND the Internet.)
I can't really seem the plot, except for a central "Help-People-Out-With-Their-Problems." I guess it's all right, and I'll just leave it there. I mean it isn't as horrible as "Secret Mountain Fort Awesome." I've seen worse, and if anything this show is all right, but for me I'll stuck to other stuff. Yeah.
That's exactly what Gus is though. He's the group's metaphorical "rock" and voice of reason and tries to help them understand that being all zany and crazy may not be the best idea. On the other hand, the rest of them try to teach Gus that sometimes thinking creatively and outside the box will help him solve his own problems.

Yeah but it's funny you say that because Uncle Grandpa models those exact 90's and early 2000's cartoons people glorify and love so much! Have you seen Ren and Stimpy or Cow and Chicken? Alot of the whimsical stuff in Uncle Grandpa is modeled off of all that, and it shocks me that people say the love the 90s and those Ren and Stimpy like shows but absolutely can't stand Uncle Grandpa. Like it's okay to like 90s better if you want but it just shocks me that so many people overlook UG and then talk about how they love the 90s. (again, not sayin you I'm talking about what I've seen in general with people)
Well that is the main idea is to help people overcome their hardships and problems and he does it in a whacky sort of way each episode.
aahhh don't get me started on Secret Mountain Fort Awesome. That show was pure gold like Uncle Grandpa and alot of people overlooked it because they thought it was "too gross" and that overlooking blinded them to the constant jabs and parodies at everyday society. SMFA was fantastic but I won't make an essay about that unless you want me to. I mean I made a review on it on my youtube if you want the link if you're interested at all.
You're welcome, even though I think UG is the best show on CN right now. However, I do not feel the need to shit on other shows because I think UG is amazing. I fight people alot about having negative opinions on UG because they shit on the show to praise other shows or are just plain rude about it.
I fight to make sure shows DON'T get shit on to praise other shows.
For example, you can love Steven Universe without parading around and going "UNCLE GRANDPA IS PURE SHIT UGHH"

CN's new line up with Steven Universe and Uncle Grandpa is actually fantastic, though I personally think UG was the better show (naturally. I'd be lying if I didn't say that.)
Now something CN I believe can do without? Probably any live action shows and Annoying Orange, but I'm not gonna judge too hard because I'm sure people actually like some of those shows and it would be terrible of me to say they should get rid of it simply because I do not personally like it.

UG is Overlooked, and 90s.... Well.... We got some weird stuff. Of course, I'm saying: "HOLY SHEET, IT WAS 98494334 TIMES BETTAH." I'm just saying, I'd rather stick to it, and such. UG is fine, and the 90s is ok. No cartoon is perfect. But to me, SMFA was waaaayyy out of track. I really didn't understand the plot it was supposed to make? (Mutant Apocalypse?) I didn't really like the humor, since fart & butt jokes are a bit immature. And the characters, the way they were drawn, it was unappealing. UG has a lot of potential, and I could actually see a actual mini-story, (Ex: 3 - 4 episode plot.) where Mr. Gus leaves, and something big happens? Eh. And yes, too many people talk about the 90s when talking about current shows. I'm gonna dive into a essay about Ed, Edd 'N Eddy, or KND. No. It isn't related to the subject enough to make a giant comment like we're making, (sorry to anyone getting annoyed.) Anyways, UG compared to most shows, is actually good, regardless if my friends disagree. I feel like AT should come to an end soon. (Because as every show, they'll eventually run out of ideas, they'll either: Repeat Ideas, or make Confusing and Really Annoying Episodes.)

It is. Well no I understand where you're coming from. I just wanted to point out how I see alot of people glorify the 90s like as if it's the most perfect thing and bash new things like Uncle Grandpa when Uncle Grandpa derived alot of inspiration from it. I felt that was something worth noting.
Of course no cartoon is perfect.
That's alot of the complaints I got about SMFA but basically the plot is a group of monsters from another dimension trying to fit into the human culture and way of life, but they are shunned and forced underground and the show revolves around their everyday lives and how they cope. It's a continuation of the Uncle Grandpa pilot where Uncle Grandpa accidentally summons monsters from another dimension out of a toilet.
To be honest, the fart and butt jokes were not as overpowering as I thought they would be unless you are referring to The Fart (the man made of butts). However, I like how they make the man made of butts the more refined voice of reason despite him being made of butts.
The fact they were drawn unappealing was done on purpose, to really emphasize how the fact they look different got them shunned in the first place (though when it comes to Slog, I don't see it. Slog is the most adorable fuzzbucket ever). The gross backgrounds and details also serve as symbolism for how gross society is and how grim their situation is (I mean forced underground and deprived of rights simply because you are different? does that sound a bit familiar?). Now, SMFA is not perfect, as some things that happen in it contradict the main point. HOWEVER I feel like it did a really good job portraying society and dabbled a bit in the problems with oppression (but it was more of a subliminal thing. I kinda wish they delved into it a bit more), and the complete backlash it got pretty much proved its point about how humans are judgemental creatures.

AT is a good show, but it shouldn't be the model for every single cartoon, you know? People want Adventure Time so much that every show has to be a copy of AT or else it's crap for some reason and I don't understand that mentality

Hmm... that's actually interesting. I personally found all of them pretty entertaining, but then again I look out for character details and learning about the characters can be more exciting for me than the humor (especially with Pizza Steve I'm very attached to that character).
If I may ask, what episodes did you feel drag on? Perhaps those were the ones I overlooked humor in for nice tid-bits of character development.
