I never learned art in school. I just looked at things I liked and tried to draw things the same way.
I can't describe it properly in words, but I could hardly imagine character designs, world designs and writing styles more incompatible with mine than Barney's. I'm not saying he's bad at these things, though. I'm just saying his style and mine can never mix.

After what I've seen on the internet, I have to say that my schools failed miserably at teaching both visual art and music. There are a lot of actual objective facts about drawing and music that could be taught, if only the school curriculum had been designed properly.

My schools taught nothing about music or art. I wasn't talking about schools in general. There are hundreds of thousands of schools in the world, I don't think anyone could make a valid commentary about all of them.

I wonder how prevalent that situation is.
I've heard of art and music programs being cut in various public schools in my country.
I shudder to think what replaces them.

You think about politics too much. It's going to make your life miserable. We had music and art classes, we just didn't learn anything there for some reason. It was years ago, so I have no idea what they're teaching in my school today.

No. It was mostly just doing crafts the way the teacher said, or trying to replicate abstract pictures from a text book. Nothing was learned.

I think you need to find more artists. There's no shortage of human artwork on Deviantart. Anime artists are much more common than furry artists.
