Original Yuzuki (the very first version) was shirabyoshi - dancer and singer at the imperial court. She was well renowned for her charm and beauty amongst nobility and many tried to take advantage of her, and , perhaps, someone did (most likely, imperial court officials). Later in the story, in short, she run away from the court with Oliver Herder, who also was saw Yuzuki' beauty and decided that she will be the mother of his son. This version of Yuzuki was calm, gentle, and just "innocent".
And current Yuzuki is not a shirabyoshi, but onna-bugeisha - female warrior of samurai clan Shiori. She was wife of one of the samurai and mother of two children. One day, clan Shiori was wiped out and her family slaughtered. After that, Yuzuki went on murderous rampage, killed one by one who was responsible for the massacre. Later she calmed down and decited just to roam Japan to find another life purpose. Like before, she was found by Oliver, who saw her sword skills and was impressed by it, and chose her as future mother of his son. This Yuzuki is more wild, savage, rude, passionate and very loyal.
I decited to keep "tsundere" Yuzuki, because she mirrors Oliver: Yuzuki represent "fire", a deadly, furious element that will burn everything around if not control it. But at the same time, this fire can be warm and will protect you. Oliver , on the other hand, is "water", just like his magical element. Calm and calculated, even in the worst of situations, and cold towards others. He just slowly and calmly streams towards his goal and nobody will stop him from achieve it. But if pushed enough, Oliver turns into raging tsunami that will destroy anything in his sight, even closest to him people.
