Description This miniature clockwork marvel is a priceless relic of ancient earthpony engineering and craftsmanship.  Of course it still works.

This is an art piece for Nightfall in Equestria.  Here's a link to the card this artwork was made for:  Lotus Seed (the card)

Say what you want about the Earth Ponies, but I think it's scary how they managed to create a Lotus Eater Machine .

And yet, it appears to be completely broken. And hideously expensive.

The word "Lotus" carries an extremely specific connotation in the MTG universe.  Hopefully the card I designed to go with the artwork is suitably powerful.

Yep. That'll do it.
Bonus points if it blooms into a Lotus Vale

"But what is it used for, mister curator? It looks fancy and sophisticated, yes, but I remembered my teacher told me the pre-Warming Earth-pony Civilization of the past are highly pragmatic and utilitarian compared to the other pony tribes; they usually don't create anything unless it at least it serve SOME sort of function in their daily life and work.

So what is this... 'Lotus Seed' used for?"

--- Griffon exchange student asking the Hoofington Mueseum of History curator on the priceless ancient earthpony relic.

"Sometimes, even that which looks elegant and sophisticated can be a deadly weapon friend. Emperror Fierro Stretta taught us that....by his self-made horn-sword.....and by his brilliant battle over the trive of Skyfires near the waterfall of life. Yet, history also taught us to try and looks beyond appearences.......we have to follow this example. Maybe it's a piece which was present in every ancient household, or it's an artefact on which our entire historical development in the future might depend. Je ne sais pas mon ami."
--- Campfierrian exchange student, faculty of archaeology. Being picked on by other students for his unhealthy inclinations and philosophy of the ancient.

"Whatever it is used for, it is still a mere anachronism compared to the ever-evolving technological superiority of changelingkind!"

"Mimic, I told you before to keep your mouth shut!"

--- Changeling exchange student being reprimanded by her pony teacher for her rude, disrespectful remarks on the priceless ancient earthpony relic.
