Prev [link] | Next [link]I love Lakitu. He scores brownie points for being a Koopa and he scores extra for having a cool outfit and mode of transportation. Lakitu started out in Super Mario Bros, as did many of the Minions of Bowser. I personally HATE Lakitu in that game; every time I hit world 4-1 he comes and drops a Spiny on my head. It’s really annoying. Especially when you’re seven, and lack the hand eye coordination to properly avoid such a fate…
Though I’m sure most players didn’t suck as bad as I did, I’ll bet there isn’t a Mario fan alive who doesn’t know the tragic story of “ACK! NO! I ran into it ;_;”
Lately however, Lakitu seems to have given up his Spiny abusing ways to become a camera man for sporting events. I guess that ability to hover is ideal for catching all the action on the race way. Lakitu changes often in style, but these are usually only minor changes and are probably due to hardware limitations. Since the Nintendo 64 Nintendo seems to have settled on a style. I personally think he looks good.

Darn straight! He rides around on a pimped-out cloud (his cloud has a face on it!) and throws spinys down on your head. That's about as un-nerdy as you can get!

OC: Hmmm.... I think I played that game when I was five. I simply wedged the B button and sped Mario through the stage until he either reaches a finishing line, or come across a "?" block which can grant access to jump on Lakitu's head. Kinda wished Super Mario Galaxy has these kinds of Lakitu -.-

I hear you - that tragic story made me hate some levels beyond 4-1. And while the Spiny that he kept throwing were no match for the Fire Flower, one that I ran to changed my luck. ;_;
Ahem, going back to the pic, I also like this design of Lakitu. And the nubby nose made it hard for me to tell if he was really a Koopa. o_o;

That's wonderful, I really like your style for these drawings. It looks to me like his shell is centered to the right a little, in relation to his frontside, but it's great altogether, especially the goggles. I look forward to seeing which you decide to draw next.

very well done, Dooplissa! Unlike the standard Koopas, where i thought the eyes were a bit... iffy, here they are really good. I think it's the googles.

Though... a lot of Lakitus nowadays seem to come with a small nose and no hooked beak... well at least since SMW.
