I am sharing this mostly because I don't think most people look at journals. dopplegager.deviantart.com/jou… My mother tried to OD yesterday and I just wanted to say that everyone is special and you are important to someone. Everyone is worth something.This isn't quite finished and I will likely redo some colors. (Not loving the shading on the pants and things. I know who I was thinking of now. I'm not super into TG but I don't mind drawing it as a transformation type thing or whatever. Love drawing girls. Heck I just love drawing people. Thanks. I actually was trying to emulate them on this one. Their style is quite simple. It reminds me of Mike Mignola who does Hellboy. I'm not happy with all of the colors but I think it is coming along pretty well.

I don't really see any Mignola in it. When it comes to him, I always think of his uses of solid shadows, his textures, and his angular use of features. (Atlantis: the Lost Empire had whole design meetings over how to draw hands in his style.)

I think they both do a lot of minimalism to an extent. They draw faces and bodies differently but I think they both use colors quite similarly as well as line thickness, shadows (Though Mignola uses more especially with the subject matter). Now I would never confuse the twos art. BSB just reminds of of Mignola.
I've never seen that Atlantis movie nor the Treasure Planet which looked like the same animation team in the trailers but that is interesting they wanted it to look like Mignola's art. He is for sure one of my favorite artists but not one who's style I could even try to replicate.

Personally I still don't really see it, but that's just me I guess. 
Having seen both Treasure Planet and the Atlantis movie, I don't remember seeing much I enjoyed about the art style in the Treasure Planet. Most of their cinematic scenes were rendered in 3-D and if you're looking for that, I feel that Titan: AE was the better movie for those visuals (though it would not be untoward to watch both). Atlantis I find is enjoyable just for the distinct art style though it's design choices are note worthy in their own right; their crackling energy is a fantastic effect for example.

Comparing the two on my part might not be accurate. I just seem to remember them coming out fairly close to each other and have an art style more similar to each other than any other Disney film I could think of at the time. I never saw either of them or Titan AE. I think I've heard of the last one. I think those movies came out when I was in a still lingering I'm to old for Disney phase. I still don't watch many Disney movies nor do I play Nintendo games anymore.
