I see stars when you're on my mind
And you're on my mind all the time

My partner and I started our relationship in 2019. We were 4200 miles apart, separated by an ocean. Within six months, we closed the distance and have been together ever since. In the second half of 2020 we had to relive that for a couple of months thanks to covid travel restrictions that kept them out of my country.

Lots of people in long distance relationships are struggling right now. Uncertainty and travel restrictions means that many who had a reunion scheduled now have no idea when they will next be able to see their loved one. We're extremely fortunate that we closed the distance as soon as we did, and that I'm legally able to stay in their country for long stretches of time.

But we may have to experience being far apart again in the future, with that bittersweet but blessed connection through the internet to carry us through.
